  •   Snake Plant (Sansevieria) Variety Pack, also called mother in law tongue, is a collection of upright succulent perennials native to the arid regions of West Africa and Southeast Asia. These plants belong to the Asparagaceae family and have adapted to survive in dry, rocky soils with minimal rainfall.

Each variety in this snake plant duo offers its own leaf pattern, from broad, sword-shaped blades with yellow-edged margins to narrower, cylindrical forms with dark green banding. The leaves grow stiffly upright, reaching anywhere from one to four feet tall depending on the variety, with a waxy surface that holds moisture. Cross-banded markings in grey-green and deep green are common across the pack, and some varieties carry a golden yellow border along each leaf edge.

Mature plants occasionally send up a tall flower spike with small, tubular, cream or pale green blooms that open at night and carry a faint sweet fragrance. Flowering is infrequent and not guaranteed every year. Beyond that, Snake Plant filters indoor air by absorbing formaldehyde and other airborne toxins, and it releases oxygen at night rather than during the day.

Move it outside once temperatures stay above 50°F in summer, but place it under cover where rain cannot pool in the leaf bases. Snake Plant grows well under office LEDs and fluorescent lighting, and it handles the dry, heated air common in indoor spaces without dropping leaves. You can leave it up to ten days without water, which suits any household rhythm. Cats, dogs, and small children should not be given access to the leaves, so a high shelf or a room out of reach works well for placement.

  •   Snake Plant (Sansevieria) Variety Pack grows well in low to bright indirect light, including office fluorescent and LED setups.

Water it every 2-3 weeks in spring and summer, and once a month or less in winter.

Snake Plant does best in a free-draining cactus or succulent mix amended with extra perlite.

It prefers temperatures between 60°F and 85°F and should be kept away from cold drafts below 50°F.

Snake Plant grows slowly, reaching 1-4 feet tall; feed it with a balanced liquid fertilizer once in spring and once in summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9 through 12, tolerating outdoor conditions down to around 25°F for brief periods. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida. It also grows outdoors in Hawaii and Puerto Rico, and can spend summers outside across most of the continental United States when temperatures remain warm.
  • Q: What light conditions suit a Snake Plant (Sansevieria) Variety Pack?
A: A north, east, or west-facing window works well. South-facing windows can scorch the leaf tips and bleach the banding, so keep it a few feet back from any south-facing glass.

Q: How do I know if I am overwatering?
A: Snake Plant (Sansevieria) Variety Pack shows overwatering through soft, mushy leaf bases and yellowing at the bottom of the plant. The roots rot quickly in consistently wet soil, so err toward less water rather than more.

Q: Is Snake Plant safe around pets?
A: Cats and dogs should not be left to nibble or eat the leaves. Keep it on a high shelf or in a room pets cannot access.

Q: Can I take this plant outside in summer?
A: Snake Plant handles the move outdoors well once nighttime temperatures stay reliably above 50°F. Place it in a sheltered spot where rain cannot sit in the leaf crowns, as standing water causes rot.

Q: How fast does Snake Plant grow?
A: Growth is slow, typically a few new leaves per growing season. Lower light slows it further, and the variety with narrower leaves tends to grow a bit faster than the broad-leafed types.

Q: Can I propagate my plants from this pack?
A: Snake Plant propagates through leaf cuttings placed in water or dry soil, or by dividing offsets, called pups, from the base of the mother plant. Division is the fastest way to get a full-sized new plant.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
*** We pack carefully to protect each plant during transit, so larger orders may arrive in multiple packages.
