    •   Sempervivum Green Wheel is a cold hardy succulent belonging to the Crassulaceae family, native to the rocky mountains of Europe and Asia Minor. It evolved in harsh, well-drained terrain where it developed into one of the most resilient alpine succulents for sale today.

        It forms tight, symmetrical rosettes of fleshy green leaves that radiate outward like a wheel, earning it its memorable name. Sempervivum 'Green Wheel' spreads by producing small offset rosettes, called chicks, that cluster around the mother plant to create a textured mat over time. The leaves are plump and smooth-edged, holding a fresh green tone that looks sharp in containers, rock gardens, and borders.

        Like all hens and chicks succulents, it is monocarpic, meaning the mother rosette flowers once and then dies back while the surrounding chicks continue. A temperature drop in late spring or early summer can trigger blooming, with star-shaped flower clusters rising on tall stalks above the rosette. It is pet friendly and non-toxic to cats and dogs.

        Move it outside in summer or leave it outdoors through autumn; it handles balcony wind and rain without trouble. It tolerates dry heated air indoors and can remain in containers year-round. You can leave it up to ten days without water. It survives temperatures down to approximately -30°F.
