  •   Sempervivum Pink Flamingo is a cold hardy succulent from the Crassulaceae family, bred from mountain-dwelling species native to the rocky highlands of Europe and western Asia. These rosette succulents evolved in harsh, exposed conditions, which is exactly why it grows well where many other plants simply give up.

It forms tight, symmetrical rosettes with fleshy, pointed leaves that shift from green to pink, rose, and burgundy tones as light and temperature increase. The clustering growth habit produces small offsets around the mother rosette, spreading into a dense, low-growing mat. The seasonal color change intensifies in full sun and cooler weather, making it a drought tolerant succulent for containers, rock gardens, or ground cover plantings.

Each rosette flowers once in summer, sending up a tall stalk with small star-shaped flowers before that individual rosette dies back naturally. The colony itself lives indefinitely, as the surrounding offsets continue to grow and mature. The plant does produce pollen, so those with plant-related allergies should note this during bloom season.

Move it outside in summer and bring it indoors before frost, or leave it outdoors year-round in cold hardy zones. It handles drafty indoor spots, dry heated air, and extended periods without water. You can leave it up to ten days without water. This succulent is non-toxic to cats and dogs, making it a safe choice for pet-owning households. Separate the small offsets, called chicks, from the base of the mother rosette to propagate new plants, and they root quickly in well-draining soil.

  •   Sempervivum Pink Flamingo grows well in partial sun to full sun, needing at least four to six hours of direct light daily.

Water it deeply but infrequently, allowing soil to dry completely between waterings, roughly every ten to fourteen days indoors.

Sempervivum 'Pink Flamingo' does best in a fast-draining cactus or succulent mix blended with extra perlite or coarse grit.

It tolerates temperatures down to -30°F, making it a frost tolerant perennial for the coldest climates.

Sempervivum 'Pink Flamingo' is a slow to moderate grower that rarely needs fertilizer, though a diluted balanced feed once in spring supports healthy clustering.

It is hardy in USDA zones 3 through 8, tolerating frost to -30°F. It grows outdoors across Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. It also performs in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. In zone 6 to 8 pockets of Utah, northern Nevada, northern California, northern Georgia, and Arkansas, it also thrives outdoors.
  • Q: Is Sempervivum Pink Flamingo pet friendly?
A: It is non-toxic and safe for cats and dogs.

Q: What causes yellow or discolored leaves?
A: Sempervivum Pink Flamingo develops discolored leaves primarily from overwatering or soggy soil; verify that drainage holes are open and the soil dries fully between waterings. Low light also dims the pink and burgundy tones, since the color intensity increases in bright, direct sun.

Q: How do I propagate Sempervivum 'Pink Flamingo'?
A: Separate the small offsets from the base of the mother rosette and replant them in well-draining soil; they root quickly without special treatment.

Q: Can it survive extended trips without water?
A: Sempervivum 'Pink Flamingo' stores water in its fleshy leaves and easily tolerates ten days or longer between waterings.

Q: Does Sempervivum 'Pink Flamingo' need regular feeding?
A: No, a diluted balanced feed once in spring is optional; most plants thrive without supplemental fertilizer.

Q: What are the best outdoor conditions?
A: Sempervivum 'Pink Flamingo' grows outdoors in full sun and tolerates wind, drafts, and dry air; provide some cover from heavy rain to prevent waterlogged roots.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
