  •   Sempervivum Heuffelii Beacon Hill is a rare cold hardy succulent native to mountainous regions of southeastern Europe. It belongs to the Crassulaceae family and has adapted to rocky, well-drained soils and harsh climates where few plants survive.

Dense, symmetrical rosettes form thick, pointed leaves in burgundy-red tones with subtle green edges. As a clumping grower, it spreads by producing offsets tightly around the mother rosette, creating a carpet-like mat over time. The firm, textured foliage in burgundy-red is recognizable in any garden or container arrangement.

Once a rosette matures, it produces a central bloom stalk in summer, after which that rosette completes its life cycle while the surrounding offsets continue growing. Sempervivum 'Beacon Hill' remains ornamental year-round as an evergreen perennial, holding its color and structure through autumn and winter. It produces pollen, so those with plant allergies may want to note this during bloom season.

Move it outside in summer. It handles balcony wind and rain with ease, though covering it during prolonged heavy rain prevents waterlogged soil. This alpine succulent grows in containers or rock gardens. You can leave it up to ten days without water. It is pet friendly, safe for cats and dogs, and adapts well to dry heated indoor air.

  •   Sempervivum Heuffelii Beacon Hill grows well in partial sun to full sun, needing at least four to six hours of direct light daily.

Water it deeply but infrequently, allowing soil to dry out completely between waterings, roughly every ten to fourteen days indoors.

Sempervivum 'Beacon Hill' does best in a gritty, fast-draining mix such as cactus soil blended with perlite or coarse sand at a 1:1 ratio.

It handles temperatures ranging from around 25°F up to 90°F, showing strong frost tolerance across most temperate climates.

Sempervivum 'Beacon Hill' is a slow to moderate grower needing little to no fertilizer, at most a light diluted feed once in spring.

It is hardy in USDA zones 4 through 9, tolerating frost down to around 30°F at the colder end of that range. It grows outdoors across the Pacific Northwest in Oregon and Washington, through the Mountain West in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, and Arizona, and into the Southwest through California and New Mexico. It grows throughout the Great Plains in Texas, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, and Minnesota, across the Midwest in Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio, through the Upper South in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Arkansas, across the Lower South in Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, and throughout the Southeast in Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. It grows equally well in New England, including Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.
  • Q: Is Sempervivum Heuffelii Beacon Hill pet friendly?
A: It is non-toxic and safe for cats and dogs.

Q: What happens if I water it too frequently?
A: Sempervivum Heuffelii Beacon Hill develops root rot when overwatered; the roots cannot tolerate sitting in wet soil and will soften and decay.

Q: How much light does Sempervivum 'Beacon Hill' need to keep its red color?
A: At least four to six hours of direct light daily maintains the burgundy-red tones; insufficient light shifts the foliage toward green.

    Q: Can I propagate it?
A: Sempervivum 'Beacon Hill' naturally produces offsets around the base of the mother rosette that can be gently separated and repotted once large enough to handle.

Q: Will Sempervivum 'Beacon Hill' survive my winters outdoors?
A: It tolerates frost down to around 30°F and persists year-round in USDA zones 4 through 9 without winter protection.

Q: How often does it flower?
A: Sempervivum 'Beacon Hill' flowers once per rosette when mature, typically in summer, though the surrounding offsets continue growing and flowering in subsequent years.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
