  •   Sempervivum Jovibarba Allionii is a hardy alpine succulent native to the rocky mountain regions of Europe, where it grows in thin, well-drained soils at high elevations. It belongs to the Sempervivum family and grows well in dramatic temperature swings, earning a devoted following as both a garden specimen and a container plant for beginners.

It forms tight, symmetrical rosettes with fleshy, pointed leaves that range from green to yellow or reddish tones depending on sun exposure. The clustering growth habit produces offsets that nestle around the mother rosette, creating a full, textured mat that stays compact and geometric. Individual rosettes typically reach 2 to 4 inches in diameter, staying low on rock gardens or balconies.

Bell-shaped flowers appear in summer on tall stalks rising from the center of a mature rosette. Since Sempervivum Allionii is monocarpic, individual rosettes bloom once and then decline, but surrounding offsets continue to fill in the cluster season after season, keeping the overall plant full and intact.

It handles balcony wind and rain without trouble. Move it outside in summer, staying outdoors comfortably into autumn. You can leave it up to ten days without water. Sempervivum Allionii is pet friendly and safe around cats and dogs, so display it anywhere indoors or out. Rock gardens, troughs, green roofs, and container arrangements where drainage is excellent all suit this cold hardy perennial. It grows outdoors year-round across much of the country and also adapts to warmer regions in well-drained beds or containers where summers stay manageable.

  •   Sempervivum Jovibarba Allionii grows well in partial sun to full sun, receiving at least four to six hours of direct light daily.

Water it every 10 to 14 days, allowing soil to dry out completely between waterings.

Sempervivum Allionii does best in a gritty, fast-draining mix such as cactus soil blended with perlite or coarse sand.

It handles temperatures from 10°F up to 90°F, tolerating hard frosts with impressive resilience.

Sempervivum Allionii is a slow to moderate grower that needs little to no fertilizer, thriving on lean soil and neglect.

It is hardy in USDA Zones 5 through 9, tolerating frost down to approximately 20°F. It grows outdoors year-round in Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, Kentucky, West Virginia, Delaware, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. It also adapts to California, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Florida in well-drained beds or containers, particularly where summers stay manageable and winter frost is light.
  • Q: Is Sempervivum Jovibarba Allionii pet friendly?
A: It is non-toxic and safe for cats and dogs.

Q: How much light does it need indoors?
A: Sempervivum Jovibarba Allionii prefers a south or west-facing window with at least four to six hours of direct light daily. Very intense south-facing windows can scorch the leaves indoors.

Q: How does Sempervivum Allionii spread?
A: It spreads naturally by producing offsets (chicks) that cluster around the mother rosette. Simply detach and replant offsets in well-drained soil to start new plants.

Q: What causes wilting in this plant?
A: Sempervivum Allionii wilts slightly when the soil is completely dry, but overwatering is far more damaging and causes soft rot at the base.

Q: Can Sempervivum Allionii survive frost?
A: It survives temperatures as low as 20°F and ranks among the toughest frost-tolerant succulents for cold-climate gardeners.

Q: How big does it get?
A: Individual rosettes in Sempervivum Allionii typically reach 2 to 4 inches in diameter, and over time the clustering habit fills a wider area as offsets multiply around the original plant.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
