  •   Sedum spurium 'Dragon's Blood', also called Dragon'S Blood Stonecrop, is a hardy, drought-tolerant creeping succulent native to the Caucasus region of Western Asia. It is a member of the Crassulaceae family and grows in rocky, sun-baked terrain across a wide range of climates as a hardy perennial groundcover.

The plant has small, rounded, scallop-edged leaves that shift from green to burgundy-red as temperatures cool. It forms a dense, clumping and trailing mat that spreads generously, weaving between rocks and along borders with a creeping succulent groundcover habit.

Sedum 'Dragon's Blood' produces bright rose-red to deep crimson star-shaped flowers in mid to late summer, held in clusters just above the foliage. The blooms are long-lasting, and the foliage intensifies to burgundy-red with the onset of cooler autumn air.

It grows well in full sun and handles dry air, balcony wind, and extended periods between waterings. You can leave it up to ten days without water. It spreads widely and occasionally needs trimming to stay within bounds. Move it outside in summer to soak up extra sun. Sedum 'Dragon's Blood' is pet-friendly and non-toxic to cats and dogs.

  •   Sedum spurium 'Dragon's Blood' (Plug) grows well in full sun to partial sun, needing at least 4-6 hours of direct light daily for deepest foliage color.

Water it thoroughly every 10-14 days in summer, allowing soil to dry completely between waterings, and reduce to once monthly in winter.

Sedum 'Dragon's Blood' does best in fast-draining sandy or gritty mix, such as cactus and succulent soil blended with perlite or coarse grit at a 1:1 ratio.

It handles temperatures from -20°F in winter dormancy up to 90°F in summer across seasons.

Sedum 'Dragon's Blood' is a moderately fast spreader outdoors that benefits from a light balanced feed once in spring to support seasonal growth.

It is hardy in USDA zones 3-9, tolerating frost down to around -40°F at the coldest end of its range. It grows outdoors across the northern plains including Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, Wyoming, and Idaho, as well as the Pacific Northwest states of Oregon and Washington. It also grows in the mid-Atlantic and southern regions including Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and the southwestern states of Nevada, Utah, California, and Arizona.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
