  •   Spathiphyllum 'Platinum Mist', also called Platinum Mist Peace Lily, is a rare tropical houseplant in the Araceae family, native to the humid rainforest floors of Central and South America. It grows naturally beneath a dense canopy, where it receives filtered light and steady warmth year-round.

The leaves are broad and lance-shaped, deep green overlaid with a soft silver-gray misting across the surface that gives the cultivar its name. Each leaf has a glossy finish and pronounced midrib, growing on upright stems that arch slightly outward as the plant fills in. 'Platinum Mist' typically reaches 18 to 24 inches tall and wide at maturity, forming a full, mounding clump of foliage.

'Platinum Mist' produces the classic peace lily flower: a single white spathe curving around a pale spadix, held above the foliage on a slender stem. Blooms appear in spring and again in autumn under good conditions. It also purifies indoor air, filtering formaldehyde and other airborne toxins, and releases oxygen at night.

Rotate 'Platinum Mist' a quarter turn every few weeks so all sides receive even light exposure. It thrives near a kitchen, where ambient moisture from cooking and washing keeps humidity levels naturally higher. Keep it away from air conditioning vents and heating units, as direct airflow dries the leaves and stresses the plant. Because it is sensitive to being moved, settle it into a permanent spot rather than shifting it between rooms. As a rare silver peace lily, it suits collectors looking for something beyond the standard Spathiphyllum varieties.

  •   Spathiphyllum 'Platinum Mist' grows well in bright indirect light, away from south-facing windows that scorch its leaves.

It wilts slightly when dry, so water thoroughly every 7 to 10 days and allow the top inch of soil to dry between waterings.

'Platinum Mist' does best in a well-draining, peat-based mix blended with perlite for good aeration.

It prefers temperatures between 65°F and 80°F and should not be exposed to air below 55°F.

'Platinum Mist' is a moderate grower; feed it with a balanced liquid fertilizer once a month during spring and summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 11 to 12, where temperatures stay reliably above 40°F year-round. It grows outdoors in Hawaii and the southernmost parts of Florida. In all other US states, it performs best as a permanent indoor plant.
  • Q: Is Spathiphyllum 'Platinum Mist' safe to keep around pets and children?
A: Cats and dogs shouldn't be left to nibble or eat the plant, and the sap can cause skin and paw irritation on contact. Keep it on a high shelf and away from small children as well.

Q: Why are the leaf tips turning brown?
A: Spathiphyllum 'Platinum Mist' is sensitive to dry air from heaters or AC vents, which is the most common cause of brown tips. Moving it away from direct airflow usually stops the problem.

Q: How do I know when 'Platinum Mist' needs water?
A: It wilts slightly when the soil has been dry too long. Check the top inch of soil with your finger, and water as soon as it feels dry.

Q: What happens if I overwater this plant?
A: 'Platinum Mist' sitting in waterlogged soil will develop yellowing leaves and root rot fairly quickly. Empty the saucer after watering and never let the pot stand in water.

Q: Can Platinum Mist Peace Lily be moved outside in summer?
A: Yes, move it outside to a shaded or sheltered spot where it receives no direct sun. Bring it back indoors before nighttime temperatures drop below 55°F, and make sure it is protected from rain, which can waterlog the soil.

Q: How fast does this plant grow?
A: Platinum Mist Peace Lily grows at a moderate pace, typically putting out a few new leaves per month during the active growing season with consistent warmth and humidity.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
*** We pack carefully to protect each plant during transit, so larger orders may arrive in multiple packages.
