  •   Spathiphyllum 'Peace Lily', also called Peace Lily, is a tropical perennial in the Araceae family, native to the humid rainforests of Central and South America. It grows naturally on the forest floor beneath a dense canopy, where it receives filtered light and consistent warmth and moisture.

The leaves are broad, lance-shaped, and deep green with a glossy surface and prominent midrib. 'Peace Lily' grows in an upright, clumping habit, with leaves arching slightly outward from a central base. Each leaf can reach several inches long, and the overall plant in a 4 inch pot stays compact enough for a desk or shelf.

It produces white spathes, each surrounding a cream-colored spadix, typically in spring and sometimes again in autumn. The blooms are mildly fragrant and appear on upright stems that rise above the foliage. 'Peace Lily' also filters formaldehyde and other airborne toxins from indoor air, and the transpiration through its leaves adds moisture to the surrounding air.

Rotate the pot a quarter turn every week or two so all sides of 'Peace Lily' receive even light exposure. It grows well in the humidity near a kitchen sink or bathroom, where ambient moisture stays higher than in other rooms. Keep it away from heating vents and air conditioning units, as direct airflow dries the leaves and stresses the plant. Cats, dogs, and small children should not have access to it, as the sap causes skin and paw irritation, and the plant is harmful if ingested.

  •   Spathiphyllum 'Peace Lily' 4 inch grows well under standard office LED lighting and in bright indirect light from north or east-facing windows.

Water it every 7 to 10 days, allowing the top inch of soil to dry slightly between waterings.

'Peace Lily' does best in a well-draining, peat-based or coco coir potting mix with added perlite for aeration.

It prefers temperatures between 65°F and 85°F and should not be exposed to temperatures below 50°F.

'Peace Lily' grows at a moderate pace and benefits from a balanced liquid fertilizer applied monthly during spring and summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 11 to 12, where temperatures stay above 40°F year-round. It grows outdoors in Hawaii and in frost-free areas of southern Florida. In all other US states, including California, Texas, Georgia, and New York, it is grown as a container plant kept indoors.
  • Q: How much light does Spathiphyllum 'Peace Lily' 4 inch need, and which window direction works best?
A: A north or east-facing window works well, keeping the leaves out of direct sun. South-facing windows can scorch the leaves, so keep it a few feet back or use a sheer curtain.

Q: How do I know when it needs watering?
A: Spathiphyllum 'Peace Lily' 4 inch wilts slightly when the soil has dried out enough to need water. Check the top inch of soil with your finger before watering to avoid overwatering, which can cause yellowing leaves and root rot.

Q: Is 'Peace Lily' safe around pets?
A: Cats and dogs should be kept away from it. The sap causes skin and paw irritation, and the plant is harmful if chewed or ingested, so place it on a high shelf out of reach.

Q: Does this plant do well in low humidity homes?
A: 'Peace Lily' prefers higher humidity and can suffer in dry indoor air. Placing it near a kitchen or bathroom helps, or you can set the pot on a tray of pebbles and water to raise the moisture level around the leaves.

Q: Can Peace Lily help with indoor air quality?
A: Yes, it filters formaldehyde and other airborne toxins from indoor air. It also releases moisture through its leaves, which raises the humidity level in the surrounding space.

Q: How do I encourage blooming?
A: Peace Lily blooms most reliably in spring when kept in bright indirect light with consistent moisture and warmth between 65°F and 85°F. Avoid placing it near cold drafts or AC vents, as temperature stress can delay flowering.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
