  •   Spathiphyllum Jessica, also called Variegated Peace Lily, is a rare cultivar in the Araceae family, native to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. It grows naturally on the forest floor, where filtered canopy light and high humidity define its environment.

The leaves of 'Jessica' are broad and lance-shaped, each one marked with irregular streaks and splashes of creamy white against deep green. The variegation runs through the leaf surface in unpredictable patterns, so no two leaves look exactly the same. It grows in an upright, clumping form, with leaves arching slightly outward from the base.

'Jessica' produces white spathes on upright stems, each one surrounding a slender spadix at the center. Blooms appear periodically throughout the year rather than in a single fixed season. It actively purifies indoor air, filtering formaldehyde and other airborne toxins, and the leaves release moisture into the surrounding air as the plant transpires.

Rotating 'Jessica' every few weeks keeps growth even on all sides. It does well near a kitchen, where ambient moisture from cooking and washing suits it. Avoid placing it near air conditioning vents or heating units, as direct air flow from either affects the foliage. Because the sap can irritate skin and paws on contact, and the plant is harmful if ingested, keep it on a high shelf away from pets and small children. Collectors seeking rare indoor plants with white variegated leaves find 'Jessica' consistently difficult to source, which adds to its appeal among spathiphyllum enthusiasts.

  •   Spathiphyllum Jessica grows well in bright indirect light and scorches when placed in south-facing windows.

It wilts slightly when dry; water it every 10 to 14 days, allowing the top inch of soil to dry between waterings.

'Jessica' does best in a well-draining, peat-based mix with added perlite to prevent waterlogging.

It prefers temperatures between 65°F and 80°F and suffers when exposed to cold drafts or air below 55°F.

'Jessica' grows at a slow to moderate pace and benefits from a balanced liquid fertilizer applied monthly during spring and summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 11 to 12, where frost does not occur and temperatures stay above 40°F year-round. It grows outdoors in Hawaii and in frost-free pockets of southern Florida and southern California. In all other states, it performs as an indoor plant kept in consistently warm conditions.
  • Q: Is Spathiphyllum Jessica safe for pets and children?
A: The sap can irritate skin and paws on contact, and the plant is harmful if eaten. Keep it on a high shelf, well out of reach of cats, dogs, and small children.

Q: How much light does this plant actually need?
A: Spathiphyllum Jessica does well a few feet back from an east or west-facing window. South-facing windows are too intense and cause the leaves to bleach or develop brown patches.

Q: Why are the leaves on 'Jessica' turning yellow?
A: Yellow leaves are most often a sign of overwatering. Check that the soil is not staying wet between waterings, and make sure the pot drains freely.

Q: How fast does this plant grow?
A: 'Jessica' grows slowly to moderately, putting out new leaves throughout the warmer months when fed and watered on a consistent schedule.

Q: Can Variegated Peace Lily handle low humidity indoors?
A: It prefers higher humidity and struggles near heating vents or air conditioning units. Placing it close to a kitchen or bathroom helps maintain the moisture levels it needs.

Q: How rare is this plant to find?
A: Variegated Peace Lily is genuinely rare in cultivation, and consistent stock is hard to come by, which is why it draws attention from collectors of unusual tropical foliage.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
*** We pack carefully to protect each plant during transit, so larger orders may arrive in multiple packages.
