  •   Guzmania hybrid Pink is a tropical bromeliad (Guzmania lingulata hybrid) native to the rainforests of Central and South America, where it grows as an epiphyte on tree branches rather than in soil.

Pink forms a low, spreading rosette of long, strap-shaped leaves that are glossy and mid-green. The leaves arch outward from a central cup, called the tank, which holds water in the plant's natural habitat. The bract cluster at the center rises from this cup in layered shades of pink, ranging from pale blush to deeper rose depending on the light.

The central bract display lasts for several months, far longer than the small white flowers that emerge from within it. Pink blooms once in its lifetime, with flowering triggered in part by a nighttime temperature drop. The foliage stays green throughout, and the plant produces offshoots called pups after the main bloom cycle ends.

Pet owners can place Pink anywhere in the home without concern, as this bromeliad is pet-friendly and non-toxic to cats and dogs. It filters formaldehyde and other airborne toxins and releases oxygen at night, making it a useful addition to bedrooms. Keep it away from air conditioning vents and heating units, as dry blowing air dries out the tank and leaf tips. Move it outside during summer and bring it under cover away from direct rain, as the tank can overflow and stagnate.

  •   Guzmania hybrid Pink grows well under bright indirect light, including standard office LED lighting.

It needs water in its central tank, topped up every one to two weeks, with the soil kept lightly moist.

Pink does best in a loose, fast-draining mix of orchid bark and peat or a bromeliad-specific medium.

It prefers temperatures between 60°F and 80°F and is sensitive to cold drafts from AC units or heaters.

Pink grows at a slow to moderate pace and benefits from a diluted bromeliad or orchid fertilizer applied monthly during the growing season.

It is hardy in USDA zones 10 to 12, where temperatures stay above 35°F year-round. It grows outdoors in Florida, Hawaii, and the warmest parts of California, Texas, Arizona, and Louisiana. In cooler states, it performs as an indoor tropical houseplant kept away from frost.
  • Q: Is Guzmania hybrid Pink safe for cats and dogs?
A: Yes, this bromeliad is non-toxic and pet-friendly. You can place it anywhere in your home without concern for cats or dogs.

Q: Why are the leaves on my bromeliad turning yellow?
A: Guzmania hybrid Pink most often yellows from overwatering in the soil, stagnant water sitting in the tank too long, or exposure to direct sun. Check that the tank water is refreshed regularly and the soil is not waterlogged.

Q: Can Pink survive while I'm away for a week or more?
A: You can leave it up to ten days without attention as long as the central tank has water before you go and the soil is lightly moist.

Q: Does this plant do well in a bathroom or kitchen?
A: Pink thrives near kitchen and bathroom moisture. The naturally higher humidity in those rooms suits it well, and it does not need a humidifier in those spots.

Q: How do I propagate Pink?
A: After the main bloom finishes, it produces offshoots called pups at the base. Wait until a pup is at least one third the size of the mother plant, then cut it away with a clean blade and pot it into a bromeliad or orchid mix.

Q: Can this plant handle a spot next to a south-facing window?
A: Pink can scorch in a south-facing window if it receives direct midday sun. A position a few feet back from the glass, or in front of a sheer curtain, keeps the light level safe.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
*** We pack carefully to protect each plant during transit, so larger orders may arrive in multiple packages.
