  •   Guzmania hybrid Orange is a bromeliad (Guzmania spp.) in the Bromeliaceae family, native to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. It grows naturally as an epiphyte, anchoring to tree trunks and branches in warm, humid forest canopies.

Orange forms a low, symmetrical rosette of long, strap-shaped leaves that are glossy and deep green. From the center of the rosette rises a bold upright bract in bright orange-red, surrounded by smaller inner bracts that hold the true flowers. The whole structure sits compact and upright, typically reaching around 12 to 18 inches in height.

The central bract holds its orange color for several months, outlasting the small white flowers that emerge from its center. Orange purifies indoor air and filters formaldehyde and other toxins from the environment. It also releases oxygen at night and naturally adds moisture to the surrounding air through transpiration.

Move it outside for summer in a sheltered spot, and cover it from rain to protect the bract and central cup. Orange thrives near a kitchen where ambient moisture stays consistently higher. This plant is pet friendly, so there is no concern placing it on a low table or shelf in shared spaces. For offices with LED lighting, it can adapt and grow steadily without a natural window.

  •   Guzmania hybrid Orange grows well in bright indirect light, away from south-facing windows where it can scorch.

Water it every one to two weeks, filling the central cup and keeping the potting medium lightly moist.

Orange does best in a fast-draining bromeliad or orchid bark mix that allows air to reach the roots.

It prefers temperatures between 60°F and 85°F and is sensitive to cold drafts from air conditioning or heating vents.

Orange is a slow to moderate grower and needs only a diluted bromeliad or half-strength balanced fertilizer once a month during the growing season.

It is hardy in USDA zones 10 to 12, tolerating outdoor conditions down to around 40°F. It grows outdoors year-round in Hawaii, southern Florida, and parts of southern California. It can spend summers outside in warmer regions across Texas, Arizona, Louisiana, and Georgia, then move back indoors before temperatures drop.
  • Q: Is Guzmania hybrid Orange safe to keep around cats and dogs?
A: Yes, it is non-toxic and pet friendly for both cats and dogs.

Q: How far from a window should this bromeliad be placed?
A: Guzmania hybrid Orange does well about two to four feet from an east- or west-facing window, where light is bright but indirect throughout the day.

Q: What happens if Orange is placed in a south-facing window?
A: The leaves can develop brown, bleached patches where direct sun hits them, starting at the tips and edges.

Q: How do I know when this plant needs water?
A: Orange wilts slightly when the central cup runs dry and the growing medium has been dry for several days, which is a useful cue to check both.

Q: Can Orange go outside for the summer?
A: Yes, move it to a sheltered outdoor spot with indirect light and cover it from rain to protect the central cup and bract.

Q: How long does the orange bract last?
A: Orange holds its bract color for roughly three to six months, which is one of the longer-lasting displays among indoor bromeliads.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
*** We pack carefully to protect each plant during transit, so larger orders may arrive in multiple packages.
