  •   Graptoveria Fred Ives is a hybrid succulent created by crossing Graptopetalum and Echeveria, two genera native to Mexico's rocky, arid landscapes. It combines the drought tolerance and color-shifting ability of both parent plants into one rosette.

'Fred Ives' forms large, loose rosettes with broad pointed leaves that shift through pink, purple, orange, and blue-green tones depending on sun exposure and temperature. The leaves carry a soft powdery coating called farina, and individual rosettes spread impressively wide as a statement plant. It clusters and offsets gradually, building a full trailing mound of color over time as offsets emerge around the base.

When conditions trigger blooming, 'Fred Ives' sends up arching stems with small star-shaped flowers in coral and yellow tones. The color shifts across the rosette from soft lavender to vivid orange continue year-round, intensifying outdoors in stronger summer light.

Move it outside in summer where better air circulation and brighter conditions deepen the pink and orange hues. It handles dry heated indoor air and propagates readily from leaf cuttings or by separating the offsets that cluster around the base. This plant is non-toxic to cats and dogs.

  •   Graptoveria Fred Ives grows well in bright indirect light to full direct sun, with more intense pink, orange, and purple tones developing under stronger light.

Water it every 10 to 14 days in summer and once every three to four weeks in winter, allowing soil to dry fully between waterings.

'Fred Ives' does best in a well-draining cactus and succulent soil mix blended with perlite for added drainage.

It prefers temperatures between 65 and 80°F and should be protected from frost below 25°F.

'Fred Ives' is a moderately fast grower that benefits from a light balanced succulent fertilizer applied once monthly during spring and summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9 through 11, tolerating brief dips to around 25°F before frost damage occurs. It grows outdoors year-round across California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, Nevada, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Mississippi, as well as coastal Oregon, southern Arkansas, and parts of New Mexico.
  • Q: How much light does Graptoveria Fred Ives need?
A: Place it in a south or west-facing window for full sun, or a bright east-facing spot for indirect light. Rotate the pot regularly so all sides develop color evenly.

Q: Why are my plant's leaves turning yellow?
A: Graptoveria Fred Ives shows yellow leaves when overwatered or drainage is poor. Scale back watering frequency, ensure the pot has drainage holes, and let the soil dry completely between waterings.

Q: Can 'Fred Ives' propagate easily?
A: Propagation succeeds readily from leaf cuttings or offsets separated from the base. Allow cut ends to callous for a day or two before placing them on dry succulent soil.

Q: Is this plant safe for pets?
A: 'Fred Ives' is non-toxic and safe for cats and dogs.

Q: How large does 'Fred Ives' get?
A: Individual rosettes reach up to 12 inches across, and the clustering habit gradually expands to fill a broad space while staying relatively low to the ground.

Q: Can I move it outside during summer?
A: 'Fred Ives' grows well outdoors in summer with stronger light and better air circulation, but shelter it from heavy rain to prevent waterlogging and farina damage.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
