  •   Echeveria 'Tropic' is a drought-tolerant succulent in the Crassulaceae family, native to the mountainous regions of Mexico where it grows naturally in rocky, well-draining soils. It has a symmetrical rosette structure.

'Tropic' has thick, fleshy leaves arranged in tight geometric patterns, typically reaching 4-6 inches across. The foliage is green with color shifts that deepen under bright light conditions. The compact rosette form stays neat and tidy throughout the plant's life, making it well-suited to containers and small spaces.

During spring and summer, 'Tropic' sends up tall stalks bearing bell-shaped flowers in coral-pink to orange tones. The flowering stems reach 12 inches high, creating an impressive display above the low-growing rosettes. A nighttime temperature drop can encourage more consistent blooming indoors.

This succulent tolerates dry air and extended periods without water, moving between indoors and outdoors with ease. Move it outside in summer and into autumn, but provide protection from rain to prevent root rot. Bring it inside before frost arrives in colder regions. It works equally well on a windowsill, tabletop, or balcony, and is pet-friendly and non-toxic to cats and dogs.

  •   Echeveria 'Tropic' grows well in bright indirect light or partial sun, but scorches in direct south-facing windows.

Water it deeply but infrequently, allowing soil to dry completely between waterings every 7-14 days.

'Tropic' does best in well-draining cactus and succulent potting mix blended with perlite or pumice.

It prefers temperatures between 65-80°F and cannot tolerate frost below 32°F.

'Tropic' grows slowly and requires minimal fertilizer, just diluted cactus fertilizer once monthly during spring.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9-11 and cannot survive frost below 32°F. It grows year-round outdoors in Florida, southern California, southern Texas, southern Arizona, Hawaii, southern Louisiana, coastal Georgia, coastal South Carolina, southern Nevada, and parts of coastal Oregon. It also grows in select microclimates of southern Alabama, southern Mississippi, and North Carolina.
  • Q: Is Echeveria 'Tropic' safe for pets and children?
A: It is non-toxic to cats, dogs, and children, making it safe for homes with curious pets.

Q: What happens if I water it too often?
A: Echeveria 'Tropic' is adapted to dry conditions. Overwatering causes root rot, so the soil must dry out completely between waterings to stay healthy.

Q: Can 'Tropic' handle low light indoors?
A: No, it needs bright indirect light to maintain color and shape. In low light, the rosette stretches and becomes pale.

Q: How big does it get?
A: It stays compact at 4-6 inches across and maintains its tight rosette form indefinitely, making it suitable for shelves and small containers.

Q: How do I propagate 'Tropic'?
A: Remove leaf cuttings or offsets that form around the base, allow them to callus for a few days, then plant in well-draining succulent soil.

Q: Can it survive outdoors year-round where I live?
A: It survives outdoors year-round only in USDA zones 9-11 where temperatures don't drop below 32°F. In colder climates, bring it inside before the first frost.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
