  •   Echeveria pulvinata 'Frosty', also called White Chenille Plant, is a fuzzy succulent native to the state of Oaxaca in Mexico, where it grows on rocky slopes and cliffs. It belongs to the family Crassulaceae and forms a compact rosette that stays relatively small indoors.

The leaves are spoon-shaped and covered in dense, white silvery hairs that give the whole rosette a soft, frosted appearance. Each leaf has a slightly cupped shape and is pale green underneath the coating of fine white trichomes. 'Frosty' grows as a tight rosette, typically reaching 4 to 6 inches across at maturity indoors.

'Frosty' produces tubular orange-red flowers on upright stalks, usually in late winter to early spring. A drop in nighttime temperatures encourages blooming. It is a compact succulent that stays tidy between bloom cycles, holding its rosette form year-round.

You can move it outside for summer in a sheltered spot, but it needs cover from rain since the dense hair coating on the leaves can trap moisture and cause rot. Rotate the pot every week or two so all sides receive even light. This plant is pet friendly. You can leave it up to ten days without water, and it tolerates the dry heated air common in most homes during winter, though it is sensitive to direct airflow from air conditioning or heating vents.

  •   Echeveria pulvinata 'Frosty' grows well in bright indirect light, with some morning direct sun from an east-facing window.

Water it every 10 to 14 days in spring and summer, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings.

'Frosty' does best in a fast-draining cactus and perlite mix, with at least 50% inorganic material.

It prefers temperatures between 60°F and 80°F and should be kept away from cold drafts below 40°F.

'Frosty' is a slow-growing succulent; feed it once in spring and once in summer with a diluted balanced fertilizer at half strength.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9b through 11, tolerating brief dips to around 25°F to 30°F. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, and parts of the Gulf Coast states. It can stay outdoors in autumn in these regions as temperatures gradually cool before the first frost threat.
  • Q: How much light does Echeveria pulvinata 'Frosty' need indoors?
A: An east or west-facing windowsill works well. South-facing windows can scorch the leaves even through the white hair coating, so keep it a foot or two back from that glass.

Q: Is this succulent safe for cats and dogs?
A: Yes. Echeveria pulvinata 'Frosty' is non-toxic and pet friendly, so it is safe to keep around cats and dogs.

Q: How do I know when 'Frosty' needs water?
A: The leaves will look slightly deflated or wilt softly when the soil has been dry too long. Check the soil depth with a finger before watering.

Q: What happens if I overwater this succulent?
A: 'Frosty' will develop soft, mushy leaves at the base, and the stem can rot quickly if water sits in the rosette or the soil stays wet for more than a few days.

Q: Can 'Frosty' survive while I travel?
A: You can leave it up to ten days without water without any additional prep before you go.

Q: How do I get White Chenille Plant to bloom?
A: 'Frosty' needs a drop in nighttime temperatures, ideally into the low 50s°F, for several weeks in late autumn or early winter to trigger flower stalks in late winter or spring.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
