  •   Echeveria 'Phyllis Collis' is a rare rosette succulent in the Crassulaceae family, originally hybridized from Echeveria species native to Mexico and Central America. It forms a compact rosette and is covered in a powdery farina coating that gives the leaves a soft, frosted appearance.

The leaves are thick, spoon-shaped, and edged with a faint pink to purple blush that deepens with sun exposure. 'Phyllis Collis' stays compact, with a tight rosette that spreads gradually outward rather than growing tall. The farina coating is light blue-grey, and the leaf tips take on a warmer rose or coral tone in bright light.

'Phyllis Collis' produces slender arching stems in late spring to summer, tipped with small bell-shaped flowers in coral to orange-pink tones. It typically blooms once per year, and a drop in nighttime temperatures can encourage flower production. This plant is pet-friendly, so it can be placed anywhere in a home without concern for cats or dogs.

Move it outside for the summer months, but keep it sheltered from direct rain, as water pooling in the rosette and excess moisture in the soil can cause rot. Rotate the pot every week or two so all sides receive even light and the rosette stays symmetrical. 'Phyllis Collis' is a rare find in succulent collections and holds up well on its own for up to ten days without water. Keep it away from air conditioning vents and heating units, as the direct airflow affects the leaves, though it handles the dry, warm air of a heated room without trouble.

  •   Echeveria 'Phyllis Collis' thrives in bright direct sun and can handle a few hours of full sun daily.

Water it every ten to fourteen days, letting the soil dry out completely between waterings.

'Phyllis Collis' does best in a fast-draining cactus and perlite mix with low organic content.

It prefers temperatures between 65°F and 80°F and should be kept above 40°F at night.

'Phyllis Collis' is a slow-growing compact rosette; feed it with a diluted balanced fertilizer once in spring and once in summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9b through 11, tolerating outdoor conditions down to around 25°F to 30°F. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, and along the Gulf Coast. It can stay outside through autumn in zone 9b areas before temperatures drop below its threshold.
  • Q: Is Echeveria 'Phyllis Collis' safe for cats and dogs?
A: Yes, it is non-toxic and pet-friendly for both cats and dogs.

Q: How do I know when it needs water?
A: Echeveria 'Phyllis Collis' will show slightly softened or lightly wrinkled leaves when the soil has been dry long enough that it is ready for water.

Q: Can 'Phyllis Collis' sit in a south-facing window?
A: It can scorch in an unobstructed south window during summer, so a west-facing window or a spot set back a foot or two from south-facing glass works better.

Q: How big does this succulent get?
A: 'Phyllis Collis' stays compact, typically reaching three to five inches across at full spread.

Q: Can 'Phyllis Collis' survive while I travel?
A: You can leave it without water for up to ten days without damage, as long as the soil was dry before you left.

Q: What happens if I overwater this succulent?
A: 'Phyllis Collis' is prone to root rot if the soil stays wet, so soggy soil for more than a day or two after watering can cause the lower leaves to turn mushy and the roots to fail.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
