  •   Echeveria 'Orion' is a hybrid succulent in the Crassulaceae family, developed through selective breeding of Echeveria species native to Mexico and Central America. It forms a compact rosette and is well suited to both indoor windowsills and outdoor containers in warm climates.

The leaves of 'Orion' are broad, spoon-shaped, and arranged in a symmetrical rosette that typically reaches 4 to 6 inches across. Each leaf is coated in a powdery farina, giving the plant a silvery blue-grey appearance. The leaf tips can flush with soft pink or lavender tones when the plant receives adequate sunlight.

'Orion' produces slender arching stems in late winter to spring, tipped with small bell-shaped flowers in coral to orange-pink tones. It requires a drop in nighttime temperatures to trigger blooming. Keeping it near a window where temperatures dip in autumn and winter encourages flower production.

Move it outside for summer in a spot with bright light and protection from heavy rain, as water collecting in the rosette can cause rot. 'Orion' needs rotating every few weeks indoors so all sides of the rosette receive even light exposure. Keep it away from direct airflow from air conditioning or heating vents. This plant is pet friendly, and you can leave it up to ten days without water. It wilts slightly when dry.

  •   Echeveria 'Orion' grows well in bright indirect light to direct sun for several hours each day. A south or east-facing window works, though intense midday sun through glass can scorch the leaves.

Water it every 10 to 14 days during the growing season, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Reduce to once a month in winter.

'Orion' does best in a well-draining cactus and succulent mix, with added perlite or coarse grit for extra drainage. Never leave it sitting in water.

It prefers temperatures between 65°F and 80°F indoors and tolerates dry heated air without significant stress. Protect it from temperatures below 40°F.

'Orion' is a slow to moderate grower that stays compact, reaching about 4 to 6 inches across at maturity. Feed with a diluted balanced fertilizer once in spring and once in early summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9b to 11b, tolerating minimum temperatures around 25°F to 30°F for short periods. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, and along the Gulf Coast. In cooler states, it grows outdoors through summer and autumn before being brought inside ahead of frost.
  • Q: Is Echeveria 'Orion' safe for cats and dogs?
A: Yes, it is non-toxic and pet friendly for both cats and dogs.

Q: How do I know when it needs water?
A: Echeveria 'Orion' wilts slightly and the leaves lose some of their firmness when the soil has been dry long enough to need a drink. Overwatering shows as mushy, translucent leaves at the base of the rosette.

Q: Can 'Orion' stay outside in autumn?
A: It can stay outdoors into autumn as long as nighttime temperatures stay above 40°F. Bring it inside before the first frost.

Q: Why are my plant's leaves turning lopsided or stretching toward the light?
A: 'Orion' stretches and leans when one side consistently receives more light than the other. Rotating the pot a quarter turn every two to three weeks keeps the rosette growing evenly.

Q: How big does 'Orion' get?
A: It stays compact, typically reaching 4 to 6 inches in diameter. Growth is slow to moderate, so it rarely outgrows a small pot quickly.

Q: Can this succulent be propagated at home?
A: 'Orion' propagates readily from individual leaves or offsets. Gently twist a healthy leaf free from the base, let the cut end callous for a day or two, then lay it on dry succulent mix until roots and a new rosette form.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
