  •   Echeveria 'Moonshine' is a compact rosette succulent in the Crassulaceae family, native to the semi-arid regions of Mexico where it grows in rocky, well-drained soils under intense sun. It is considered a rare cultivar, sought after for its unusually pale, powdery leaf tones that set it apart from more common Echeveria varieties.

'Moonshine' forms a tight, symmetrical rosette of broad, spoon-shaped leaves in a soft mint green to pale silver-green, covered in a fine farina that gives each leaf a frosted appearance. The leaf edges can blush faint pink to rose in strong light, and the rosette typically reaches three to five inches across at maturity. Each leaf is thick and waxy, storing water through dry periods.

In late spring to summer, it sends up slender, arching stems carrying small coral to orange-pink bell-shaped flowers. A night temperature drop encourages blooming, so moving it to a cooler spot in the evening during spring can help trigger a flowering cycle. This plant is pet friendly, so it can sit wherever it gets the best light without concern for cats or dogs nearby.

Move it outside once temperatures settle above 50°F in summer, placing it in a spot sheltered from rain, since excess moisture on the rosette invites rot. Rotate the pot a quarter turn every week or two so all sides receive equal light exposure. You can leave it up to ten days without water, and it tolerates the dry, heated air that comes with indoor winters near a radiator or baseboard heater, though it should be kept away from direct airflow from air conditioners or heaters.

  •   Echeveria 'Moonshine' grows best in bright indirect to direct sun, placed near an east- or west-facing window.

Water it every ten to fourteen days in the growing season, letting the soil dry out completely between waterings.

'Moonshine' does best in a fast-draining cactus and perlite mix with at least fifty percent inorganic material.

It prefers temperatures between 60°F and 80°F and should be brought indoors before nights drop below 40°F.

'Moonshine' is a slow-growing succulent; feed it with a diluted balanced fertilizer once a month during spring and summer only.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9b through 11b, tolerating outdoor temperatures down to around 25°F to 30°F briefly. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, and along the Gulf Coast. It can stay outdoors through autumn in those regions as temperatures cool gradually.
  • Q: How much light does Echeveria 'Moonshine' need indoors?
A: A south- or east-facing windowsill works well. A south window in peak summer can scorch the leaves, so move it back a foot or filter the light with a sheer curtain during the hottest months.

Q: How do I know when it needs water?
A: Echeveria 'Moonshine' will show slightly soft or lightly wrinkled leaves when the soil has been dry long enough. Overwatering is more damaging than underwatering, so always check that the top inch of soil is fully dry before adding water.

Q: Is 'Moonshine' safe for cats and dogs?
A: Yes, it is non-toxic and pet friendly for both cats and dogs.

Q: How big does this succulent get?
A: 'Moonshine' stays compact, typically reaching three to five inches across and two to three inches tall at full maturity.

Q: Can 'Moonshine' be propagated at home?
A: Leaf propagation works well. Gently twist a healthy leaf cleanly from the stem, let it callous for two to three days, then lay it on dry cactus mix and mist lightly every few days until tiny rosettes appear.

Q: How long can this succulent go without water during travel?
A: 'Moonshine' can go up to ten days without watering, so a short trip away does not require any special arrangements before leaving.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
