  •   Echeveria 'Lara' is a compact rosette-forming succulent in the Crassulaceae family, native to the semi-arid regions of Mexico. It is a cultivated hybrid developed for its blue-toned foliage and tight, symmetrical form.

The leaves are broad, spoon-shaped, and arranged in a dense, flat rosette that typically reaches three to four inches across. They are a soft blue-grey with faintly powdery coating and pointed tips that can flush pink or lavender at the edges when exposed to bright light. The surface has a smooth, matte finish from a natural farina layer.

'Lara' produces arching flower stalks in spring or early summer, carrying small coral to orange bell-shaped blooms. A drop in nighttime temperatures encourages the plant to set buds more reliably. This plant is pet friendly, so it can sit on low shelves or tables without concern around cats and dogs.

Rotate it every few weeks so all sides of the rosette receive even light and the shape stays symmetrical. Move it outside for summer in a sheltered spot, but cover it or bring it in when rain is expected, as excess water pooling in the rosette can cause rot. Keep it away from air conditioning vents and heating units, though it handles the dry warm air of a heated room without trouble. You can leave it up to ten days without water, which covers longer stretches away from home.

  •   Echeveria 'Lara' grows best in bright indirect light but tolerates some direct morning sun indoors.

Water it every ten to fourteen days in spring and summer, reducing to once a month in winter.

'Lara' does best in a fast-draining cactus and perlite mix that dries out quickly between waterings.

It prefers temperatures between 60°F and 80°F and should be kept away from cold drafts below 40°F.

'Lara' is a slow-growing compact succulent; feed it once in spring with a diluted balanced fertilizer at half strength.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9 to 11, tolerating outdoor conditions down to around 25°F to 30°F for brief periods. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, and parts of Nevada, New Mexico, and Louisiana. In cooler zones, it grows outdoors in summer and moves inside before the first frost.
  • Q: How often should I water Echeveria 'Lara'?
A: Check the soil before watering. If it still feels damp an inch down, wait a few more days. Overwatering is the most common problem and causes the lower leaves to turn soft and mushy at the base.

Q: Does this succulent do well on a windowsill?
A: Echeveria 'Lara' does well on an east- or west-facing windowsill where it gets a few hours of direct sun without the intensity of a south-facing window at midday, which can scorch the leaves and bleach the blue farina.

Q: Is 'Lara' safe for cats and dogs?
A: Yes, it is non-toxic and pet friendly for both cats and dogs.

Q: How do I know when the plant needs water?
A: 'Lara' wilts slightly and the leaves feel softer or thinner than usual when the soil has been dry for too long.

Q: Can 'Lara' stay outside in autumn?
A: It can stay outdoors into early autumn as long as temperatures stay above 40°F and it is sheltered from rain and frost.

Q: How do I propagate this succulent?
A: 'Lara' propagates easily from leaf cuttings or offsets. Gently twist a healthy lower leaf cleanly from the stem, let it callous for a day or two, then set it on dry cactus mix and mist lightly every few days until roots and a small rosette appear.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
