  •   Echeveria 'Grande Cinza' is a large rosette-forming succulent in the Crassulaceae family, developed through hybridization within the genus Echeveria, which originates from semi-arid regions of Mexico and Central America. It is a rare collector succulent, sought after for its oversized, powdery blue-gray rosette that can span several inches across at maturity.

The leaves of 'Grande Cinza' are broad, spoon-shaped, and heavily coated in a pale blue-gray farina, the natural waxy powder that gives the rosette its cool, muted tone. Each leaf has a slightly pointed tip and smooth edges, layered in a tight, symmetrical spiral from a compact central crown. It can grow into one of the larger echeveria rosettes available, with mature specimens reaching impressive spreads.

'Grande Cinza' may produce tall, arching bloom stalks bearing small coral or orange-tipped flowers, typical of hybrid echeverias, though it tends to flower more freely when it experiences a drop in nighttime temperatures. Beyond flowering, it is confirmed pet-friendly, non-toxic to cats and dogs. You can leave it up to ten days without water, so a short trip away does not require arranging plant care.

Move 'Grande Cinza' outside for summer, placing it in a spot with some shelter from rain, as water pooling in the rosette can cause rot. It handles dry, heated indoor air without trouble, though it is sensitive to direct airflow from air conditioning or heating vents. Rotate it periodically so all sides of the rosette receive even light exposure. This is a genuinely rare succulent, and its pastel blue rosette form is hard to find outside specialist collections.

  •   Echeveria 'Grande Cinza' grows well in bright indirect light to direct sun, but can scorch in intense south-facing windows at midday.

Water it every 10 to 14 days in the growing season, letting the soil dry out completely between waterings.

'Grande Cinza' does best in a gritty, fast-draining cactus and perlite mix to prevent root rot.

It prefers temperatures between 60°F and 80°F indoors, and needs protection from frost below 25°F.

'Grande Cinza' is a slow to moderate grower; feed it with a diluted balanced fertilizer once a month during spring and summer only.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9b through 11, tolerating outdoor temperatures down to around 25°F. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, and parts of the Gulf Coast. It can also stay outdoors through autumn in zone 9b areas before temperatures drop below its cold threshold.
  • Q: How large does Echeveria 'Grande Cinza' get?
A: The rosette can reach 6 to 8 inches or more across at maturity, making it one of the larger echeveria cultivars available.

Q: Is this succulent safe for cats and dogs?
A: Yes. Echeveria 'Grande Cinza' is non-toxic and pet-friendly for both cats and dogs.

Q: How do I know if 'Grande Cinza' is getting too much light?
A: The farina on the leaf edges will show brown or bleached patches, and the tips may dry out and curl slightly.

Q: What happens if I overwater this succulent?
A: 'Grande Cinza' will develop soft, translucent leaves at the base of the rosette, and the roots can rot quickly in waterlogged soil.

Q: Can 'Grande Cinza' survive while I travel for a week or more?
A: It handles up to ten days without water without issue, as long as the soil was dry before you left.

Q: Why does my succulent look lopsided or uneven?
A: 'Grande Cinza' leans toward its light source over time; rotating the pot a quarter turn every week or two keeps the rosette growing symmetrically.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
