  •   Echeveria Dondo Succulent is a rosette-forming succulent in the Crassulaceae family, native to the rocky, semi-arid highlands of Mexico. Like other Echeveria species, it evolved in environments with bright sun, excellent drainage, and seasonal dry spells, making it naturally tough. Whether you are growing your first succulent or adding to an established collection, it delivers interest with minimal fuss.

'Dondo' forms tight, symmetrical rosettes dressed in gray-green leaves that are plump, slightly pointed, and often dusted with a powdery coating called farina. As it matures, the plant clusters and produces offsets that fan out around the mother rosette for a full, sculptural display. The soft gray-green rosette structure makes it a desk succulent or shelf display that stands out on any windowsill or arrangement.

Given the right conditions, 'Dondo' can produce slender arching stems tipped with small coral to orange-red bell-shaped blooms, typically appearing in late winter to spring. A modest drop in nighttime temperatures helps trigger flowering, so moving it near a cooler window in autumn can encourage a seasonal show.

Rotate the pot every couple of weeks for even, balanced growth, and keep it away from direct blasts of air conditioning or heating vents. Move it outside in summer to soak up natural sunlight, just shield it from heavy rain and bring it back in before frost arrives. 'Dondo' is non-toxic, so you can place it anywhere in your home without concern for cats or dogs. You can leave it up to ten days without water.

  •   Echeveria Dondo Succulent grows well in bright indirect light to partial or full sun, ideally in an east or west-facing window.

Water it deeply every 10 to 14 days in summer, reducing to once every 3 to 4 weeks in winter, letting the soil dry completely between waterings.

'Dondo' does best in fast-draining cactus and succulent soil blended with perlite at a 2:1 ratio.

It prefers temperatures between 60 and 80 degrees F and should be protected from frost.

'Dondo' is a slow to moderate grower and benefits from a light, balanced liquid fertilizer applied once monthly during the active growing season.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9 through 11, tolerating brief dips to around 25 degrees F but performing best with frost protection. It grows outdoors year-round in Florida, Southern California, Hawaii, Southern Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina. Coastal areas of Oregon, Washington, and Nevada, along with parts of North Carolina, Virginia, and the warmer pockets of the Pacific Coast, can also host this drought-tolerant succulent with minimal winter care.
  • Q: How often should I water Echeveria Dondo Succulent?
A: Water deeply every 10 to 14 days in summer and scale back to once every three to four weeks in winter. Let the soil dry out completely between waterings to prevent root rot.

Q: Is it safe around pets?
A: Echeveria Dondo Succulent is non-toxic and safe for cats and dogs.

Q: How much light does 'Dondo' need?
A: Placement in a sunny east, west, or south-facing window provides optimal growth. If the rosette stretches or leans, rotate it more frequently and ensure it receives direct sun for at least a few hours daily.

Q: Can I propagate it from offsets?
A: Offsets cluster around the base of 'Dondo' and root quickly when gently removed and potted in fresh, well-draining succulent mix. Leaf cuttings work too, but offsets are faster and more reliable.

Q: Can 'Dondo' survive time away from home?
A: Water it thoroughly before you leave, and skip watering while you are away. Most trips of one to two weeks require no additional care once the soil is moistened beforehand.

Q: Is it cold-hardy enough for outdoor winters?
A: 'Dondo' tolerates brief dips to around 25 degrees F but should be shielded from hard freezes. It grows outdoors year-round in zones 9 through 11, including Southern California, Florida, and parts of the Southwest.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
