    •   Echeveria 'Blue Moon' is a rosette-forming succulent in the Crassulaceae family, bred as a hybrid cultivar within the Echeveria genus, which originates from the semi-arid regions of Mexico and Central America. It has gained attention among succulent growers for its unusually cool-toned, silvery blue foliage and compact, symmetrical form.

        The rosette is made up of thick, spoon-shaped leaves in a powdery silver-blue with a pale lavender undertone, covered in a fine farina that gives the surface a matte, frosted finish. Leaves are arranged in tight, overlapping layers that form a neat, circular rosette typically reaching 4 to 6 inches across. The farina is fragile and will not grow back if touched or rubbed, so handling should be minimal.

        Flower spikes emerge from the base of the rosette, carrying small bell-shaped blooms in pink to coral tones, typically in spring or early summer. A drop in nighttime temperatures can encourage blooming. 'Blue Moon' is also pet-friendly, non-toxic to cats and dogs, and it releases oxygen at night rather than during the day as most plants do.

        Move it outside for the summer months, but keep it covered from rain, as excess moisture pooling in the rosette can cause rot. Rotate the pot a quarter turn every week or two to keep growth even on all sides. Keep it away from air conditioning and heating vents, as the dry airflow from either can stress the leaves, though it handles the general dry air of a heated room without trouble. You can leave it up to ten days without water, and it grows well under office LED lighting.

    •   Echeveria 'Blue Moon' grows best in bright indirect light and can handle some direct sun, though south-facing windows may cause leaf scorch.

        Water it every 10 to 14 days during the growing season, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings.

        'Blue Moon' does best in a well-draining cactus or succulent mix, ideally amended with perlite or coarse sand to prevent moisture retention.

        It prefers temperatures between 65°F and 80°F indoors and should stay away from cold drafts, air conditioning vents, and heating vents.

        'Blue Moon' is a slow to moderate grower, staying compact at 4 to 6 inches wide; feed with a diluted succulent fertilizer once a month during spring and summer only.

        It is hardy in USDA zones 9b through 11, tolerating outdoor temperatures down to around 25°F for very brief periods. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, and along the Gulf Coast. In cooler zones, it overwinters well indoors on a bright windowsill.
