  •   Echeveria 'Barca' is a compact blue-green rosette succulent in the Crassulaceae family, bred as a hybrid from the diverse Echeveria genus native to the semi-arid regions of Mexico and Central America. It grows as a tight, symmetrical rosette and stays small enough for a windowsill or desk.

The leaves are fleshy, spoon-shaped, and blue-green with soft pink to coral edges that deepen in brighter light. 'Barca' holds its rosette shape closely, with leaves layered in a neat spiral pattern. Each leaf has a slightly powdery coating, called farina, that gives the surface a matte, frosted appearance.

'Barca' produces flower stalks in spring or summer, typically bearing small coral or pink blooms on arching stems above the rosette. A drop in nighttime temperatures encourages it to set buds, so placing it near a cooler window in late winter can trigger a bloom cycle. It is pet friendly, so it can be kept anywhere in the home without concern for cats or dogs.

Move it outside in summer to a spot with morning sun and afternoon shade, but cover it or bring it in when rain is expected, as water pooling in the rosette can cause rot. 'Barca' is a compact rosette succulent that benefits from a quarter-turn every week or two so all sides receive even light. You can leave it up to ten days without water, and it tolerates the dry heated air common in most homes. Keep it away from direct airflow from air conditioners or heaters, as this dries the leaves unevenly.

  •   Echeveria 'Barca' grows well in bright indirect light or a few hours of direct morning sun daily.

Water it every 10 to 14 days in spring and summer, letting the soil dry completely between waterings.

'Barca' does best in a fast-draining cactus or succulent mix blended with coarse perlite or pumice.

It prefers temperatures between 60°F and 80°F and should be kept above 40°F at all times.

'Barca' is a slow-growing succulent that stays under 4 inches wide and produces offsets at its base over time.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9b through 11b, tolerating brief dips no lower than 25°F to 30°F. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, and along the Gulf Coast states. It can also stay outdoors through autumn in zone 9 areas of Oregon, Georgia, and South Carolina before overnight temperatures drop below freezing.
  • Q: How much light does Echeveria 'Barca' need indoors?
A: An east- or west-facing windowsill works well. South-facing windows can scorch the leaves, especially in summer, so a sheer curtain helps diffuse the intensity.

Q: How do I know when to water this succulent?
A: Echeveria 'Barca' wilts slightly and the leaves feel a little soft when the soil has been dry long enough to need water. Check the soil at least an inch deep before watering.

Q: Is 'Barca' safe for cats and dogs?
A: Yes, it is non-toxic and safe to keep around cats and dogs.

Q: How big does this succulent get?
A: 'Barca' stays under about 4 inches in diameter, staying compact enough for a small shelf or windowsill for years.

Q: Can 'Barca' be propagated at home?
A: Leaf propagation works well. Gently twist a healthy leaf free from the base, let it callous for a day or two, then set it on dry succulent mix and mist lightly every few days until a small rosette forms.

Q: Is this succulent considered rare?
A: 'Barca' is not a common variety found in most garden centers, and it does have collector appeal among Echeveria enthusiasts looking for compact blue-green rosette succulents with pink-edged leaves.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
