  •   Echeveria 'Ana Lu' is a rare hybrid succulent in the Crassulaceae family, developed through selective breeding of Echeveria species native to Mexico and Central America. It forms a compact rosette and belongs to a group of drought tolerant succulents prized by collectors for their unusual leaf colors and slow, tidy growth habit.

'Ana Lu' produces a symmetrical rosette of fleshy, spoon-shaped leaves in soft mint green with crimson-edged tips that deepen in intensity with more sun exposure. The leaves have a powdery coating, called farina, that gives the surface a frosted appearance. It stays compact, typically reaching 3 to 5 inches across at maturity.

'Ana Lu' may produce slender arching stems in late spring to summer, tipped with small bell-shaped flowers in coral to orange tones, though a noticeable drop in nighttime temperature often triggers blooming. It is pet-friendly, so it can sit anywhere in the home without concern for cats or dogs. You can leave it up to ten days without water, which suits busy households and short trips alike.

Move it outside for summer in a sheltered spot, and bring it back in before frost since it needs cover from rain to protect its farina and prevent rot. Rotate it every few weeks so all sides receive even light and the rosette stays symmetrical. 'Ana Lu' is sensitive to direct airflow from air conditioners or heaters, so keep it away from vents, though it handles dry heated indoor air without trouble.

  •   Echeveria 'Ana Lu' grows well in bright indirect light to partial direct sun, ideally near an east or west-facing window.

Water it every 10 to 14 days during the growing season, letting the soil dry out completely between waterings.

'Ana Lu' does best in a fast-draining cactus and perlite mix, with at least 50% inorganic material to prevent root rot.

It prefers temperatures between 60°F and 80°F and should be kept away from cold drafts or sudden temperature swings below 40°F.

'Ana Lu' is a slow-growing succulent; feed it with a diluted balanced fertilizer once a month during spring and summer only.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9b through 11, tolerating outdoor temperatures down to around 25°F to 30°F. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, and parts of the Gulf Coast states. In cooler zones, it grows outdoors as a seasonal plant through spring, summer, and into autumn before being brought indoors.
  • Q: How much light does Echeveria 'Ana Lu' need indoors?
A: An east or west-facing window works well. South-facing windows can scorch the leaves, especially if the plant sits directly against the glass with no filter.

Q: How do I know when this succulent needs water?
A: Echeveria 'Ana Lu' wilts slightly and the leaves feel less firm when it is dry. Check the soil before watering and make sure it is completely dry all the way through.

Q: Is 'Ana Lu' safe for pets?
A: Yes, it is non-toxic and safe for cats and dogs.

Q: How do I propagate this succulent?
A: 'Ana Lu' propagates from leaf cuttings or offsets. Gently twist a healthy leaf free from the stem, let it callous for a day or two, then place it on dry succulent mix.

Q: Can 'Ana Lu' stay outside in autumn?
A: It can stay outdoors into early autumn as long as nighttime temperatures stay above 40°F. Bring it in before the first frost.

Q: Why is this succulent hard to find?
A: 'Ana Lu' is a rare hybrid with limited production, so it moves quickly through specialty growers and is not commonly stocked in garden centers.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
