  •   Snake Plant Sansevieria Starfish, also called the starfish sansevieria, is a compact succulent from the Asparagaceae family, native to West Africa. It belongs to the Sansevieria cylindrica species group and is considered a rare find among cylindrical snake plant varieties.

The leaves grow in a low, spreading fan, each one cylindrical and tapering to a firm point. They radiate outward from a central base in the shape of a starfish, reaching around 7 inches long in a young plant and up to 16 inches at maturity. The surface is a grayish-green with subtle darker banding that runs horizontally across each cylinder.

Starfish Snake Plant rarely blooms indoors, but mature specimens can produce a single slender flower spike with small, tubular, pale white to pinkish blooms. It purifies indoor air by filtering formaldehyde and other airborne toxins, and releases oxygen at night rather than during the day.

Move it outside in summer, but place it somewhere sheltered from direct rain, as standing water in the rosette can cause rot. It grows well under office LED lighting and tolerates the dry, heated air that comes with indoor heating systems, though it should not sit directly in the stream of an air conditioner or heater vent. Cats, dogs, and small children should not have access to it, since the sap can cause skin and paw irritation, and the plant is harmful if ingested. Keep it on a high shelf or in a room where pets and toddlers cannot reach it.

  •   Snake Plant Sansevieria Starfish grows well in bright indirect light and handles medium light and office LED conditions.

Water it every 10 to 14 days in spring and summer, and cut back to once a month in winter.

Starfish Snake Plant does best in a fast-draining cactus or succulent mix with added perlite for extra drainage.

It prefers temperatures between 60°F and 80°F and should be kept away from cold drafts below 50°F.

Starfish Snake Plant is a slow grower; feed it with a diluted balanced fertilizer once a month during spring and summer only.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9 to 12, tolerating outdoor temperatures down to around 25°F to 30°F briefly. It grows outdoors year-round in Florida, California, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, and Hawaii. It can also stay outside through summer and into autumn in zone 8 areas with mild falls.
  • Q: Can Snake Plant Sansevieria Starfish survive while I'm away on a trip?
A: You can leave it up to ten days without water, provided the soil was dry before you left and the room stays warm.

Q: How do I know if I'm overwatering?
A: Snake Plant Sansevieria Starfish will show soft, mushy leaf bases and possible yellowing at the base when it receives too much water. Always let the soil dry out completely between waterings.

Q: Can Starfish Snake Plant grow in a south-facing window?
A: A south-facing window can scorch the leaf tips, especially in summer. A few feet back from the glass, or a spot with a sheer curtain, works better.

Q: Is it safe to have around pets and children?
A: Starfish Snake Plant should be kept out of reach of cats, dogs, and small children. The sap can irritate skin and paws, and the plant is harmful if ingested.

Q: How big does Starfish Snake Plant get?
A: The leaves typically reach around 7 inches on younger plants and can extend to about 16 inches as the plant matures.

Q: Can I propagate this plant at home?
A: Starfish Snake Plant is most reliably propagated by separating offsets, called pups, from the base of the mother plant and potting them individually in a dry, well-draining mix.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
