    •   Pothos 'Shangri La', also called Sleeping Pothos, is a rare cultivar of the genus Epipremnum, part of the Araceae family. It originates from the tropical forests of Southeast Asia, where it grows as a trailing vine through warm, humid canopy environments. This houseplant has serious collector appeal for its leaf structure that differs from all other pothos varieties.

        The plant is recognizable by its distinctively curled, cupped leaves that fold inward along the midrib, creating a crinkled, sleeping appearance. Foliage is dark green with a slightly textured surface, and each leaf holds its sculptural curl even as it matures. It grows as a dark green trailing vine from shelves and hanging baskets in a classic vining habit.

        As an Epipremnum grown purely for foliage, it rarely blooms in typical home conditions. It actively filters formaldehyde and other indoor toxins from your home.

        Pothos 'Shangri La' works in terrariums, kitchen windowsills where it can absorb ambient moisture, or any bright room where it can trail from a high shelf. Rotate it regularly for even, balanced growth, and keep it away from air conditioning and heater vents. The sap can cause skin and paw irritation, so place it out of reach of pets and small children. You can leave it up to ten days without water.

    •   Pothos 'Shangri La' grows well in medium to bright indirect light but adapts well to low light conditions indoors.

        Water it every 10 to 14 days, allowing the top inch of soil to dry out completely between waterings.

        Pothos 'Shangri La' does best in a well-draining mix of standard potting soil blended with perlite for aeration.

        It prefers temperatures between 65 and 85°F and should never be exposed to frost or temperatures below 50°F.

        Pothos 'Shangri La' is a moderately fast vining grower that benefits from a balanced liquid fertilizer once a month in spring and summer.

        It is hardy in USDA zones 10–12, tolerating outdoor conditions only where frost never occurs, generally no lower than 35°F. It grows outdoors in Southern California, South Florida, Hawaii, Southern Texas, Southern Arizona, and parts of coastal Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia. Gardeners in all other regions should treat it as an indoor plant year-round or bring it inside well before autumn temperatures drop.
