  •   Aloe 'Firecracker' - Bare foot is a compact clumping aloe hybrid bred for bold color and a tight rosette form, belonging to the Asphodelaceae family. It originates from hybridization programs drawing on South African aloe species, where intense sun and dry conditions shaped its drought-tolerant nature.

The leaves are thick and fleshy, tapering to a point, and lined along the edges with soft teeth. In bright light, the foliage shifts from green to deep orange-red or burgundy-red, with the color intensifying toward the leaf tips. It forms a low, compact rosette that stays tidy and dense, rarely spreading far beyond its central crown.

Aloe Firecracker produces tubular flower spikes that rise above the rosette, typically in shades of orange to coral-red, appearing in late winter to spring. It generally needs a drop in nighttime temperature to trigger blooming. The flowers attract hummingbirds and beneficial insects when grown outdoors.

Move it outside for the summer months, but keep it sheltered from rain, as excess moisture sitting in the rosette can cause rot. Aloe Firecracker releases oxygen at night, so a bedroom windowsill is a natural spot for it. Cats, dogs, and small children should not have access to it, the sap can cause skin and paw irritation, and the plant is not safe if ingested. Keep it on a high shelf or out of reach entirely.

  •   Aloe 'Firecracker' - Bare foot grows well in bright direct to bright indirect light, and benefits from rotating a quarter turn weekly for even growth on all sides.

Water it every 10 to 14 days during the growing season, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings.

Aloe Firecracker does best in a fast-draining cactus and succulent mix, with added perlite to improve drainage and prevent root rot.

It prefers temperatures between 60°F and 85°F and should be kept away from air conditioning vents, heating units, and cold drafts.

Aloe Firecracker is a slow to moderate grower; feed it once in spring and once in summer with a diluted balanced succulent fertilizer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9 to 11, tolerating brief dips no lower than around 25°F to 28°F before frost damage occurs. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Florida, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Hawaii, and parts of Oregon. It can also stay outdoors into autumn in zone 8 with some protection from hard frost.
  • Q: Is Aloe 'Firecracker' - Bare foot safe around pets and children?
A: Cats and dogs should not be left to nibble or eat the plant, and the sap can irritate skin and paws on contact. Keep it on a high shelf away from small children as well.

Q: Why are the leaves on my aloe turning yellow?
A: Aloe 'Firecracker' - Bare foot most often yellows from overwatering. Check that the soil has dried out fully before watering again, and make sure the pot has drainage holes.

Q: Can Aloe Firecracker survive while I'm away on a trip?
A: You can leave it up to ten days without water without any issue, as long as it was watered before you left.

Q: How do I propagate this plant?
A: Aloe Firecracker offsets naturally by producing small pups around the base of the mother rosette. Separate a pup once it has its own roots, let the cut end dry for a day, then pot it into dry succulent mix.

Q: Does Aloe Firecracker do well near a south-facing window?
A: It can scorch if placed directly against a south window with intense midday sun, especially in summer. A few feet back from the glass, or an east or west-facing window, works better indoors.

Q: Can this plant go outside in summer?
A: Aloe Firecracker does well outdoors in summer in a bright, sheltered spot. Keep it under a covered area or roof overhang so it doesn't collect rainwater in the rosette.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
