  •   Echeveria 'Salsa Verde' is a compact rosette-forming succulent in the Crassulaceae family, native to the semi-arid highlands of Mexico. It produces tightly packed rosettes of fleshy, lime green leaves that take on warm pink and red tones at the tips when grown in bright light.

The rosette grows low and dense, with spoon-shaped leaves that have a smooth, waxy surface and gently pointed tips. Under direct sun, the leaf edges blush from soft pink to deeper rose, contrasting against the lime green center. The rosette typically stays compact, reaching around 4 to 6 inches in diameter at maturity.

'Salsa Verde' produces slender arching stems in late spring to summer, tipped with small coral to orange-red bell-shaped flowers. A night temperature drop encourages it to set flower buds. It blooms once per season, and the flowers carry no noticeable fragrance.

Move it outside for summer and bring it back in before the first frost. Outdoors, keep it under a covered spot or overhang, since excess rain causes rot. 'Salsa Verde' is a pet-friendly succulent, non-toxic to cats and dogs. You can leave it up to ten days without water, and it wilts slightly when dry. It releases oxygen at night, and rotating the pot every few weeks keeps the rosette growing evenly rather than leaning toward the light source.

  •   Echeveria 'Salsa Verde' grows best in bright indirect light to direct sun, ideally near a south or east-facing window.

Water it every 10 to 14 days in spring and summer, letting the soil dry out completely between waterings.

'Salsa Verde' does best in a fast-draining cactus and perlite mix with a gritty, low-organic composition.

It prefers temperatures between 65°F and 80°F and is sensitive to direct airflow from air conditioners or heaters.

'Salsa Verde' grows slowly to a compact 4 to 6 inches wide; feed once in spring with a diluted balanced fertilizer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9b through 11, tolerating outdoor temperatures down to around 25°F for brief periods. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, and Nevada. It can also stay outside through autumn in zone 9b areas before overnight temperatures drop too low.
  • Q: How much light does Echeveria 'Salsa Verde' need?
A: Place it within a foot or two of a south or east-facing window for the best color. A south-facing window in summer can scorch the leaf tips, so a light curtain or a few inches of distance helps.

Q: Is this succulent safe for cats and dogs?
A: Yes. Echeveria 'Salsa Verde' is non-toxic and safe for cats and dogs.

Q: How do I know when 'Salsa Verde' needs water?
A: The leaves soften slightly and the rosette wilts a little when it has gone too long without water. Overwatering shows up as mushy, translucent leaves at the base.

Q: How fast does this plant grow?
A: 'Salsa Verde' is a slow grower that stays compact over time, typically adding only a few leaves per season.

Q: Can 'Salsa Verde' survive while I travel?
A: You can leave it up to ten days without water without any issue.

Q: How do I get this plant to bloom?
A: 'Salsa Verde' responds to cooler nights in late winter and early spring, around 50°F to 55°F, which encourages it to send up flower stems by late spring.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
