  •   Echeveria pringlei, also called Pringle'S Echeveria, is a rosette-forming succulent native to the rocky hillsides and semi-arid regions of Mexico. It belongs to the Crassulaceae family and grows naturally at higher elevations, where dry conditions and bright sun shape its compact, drought-tolerant form.

The rosette is composed of spoon-shaped leaves with a silvery-green to pale blue-green surface, covered in a fine powdery coating called farina. Leaves are firm and slightly cupped, arranged in a tight, symmetrical spiral. The overall rosette stays relatively compact, and the farina gives it a matte, frosted appearance that sets it apart from more common echeverias.

Echeveria pringlei produces arching flower stalks in spring or summer, bearing small bell-shaped blooms in coral to orange-red tones. A nighttime temperature drop encourages blooming, so placing it near a cooler window in late winter can help trigger a flower cycle. It is also a rare species, less commonly found than many other echeverias, which adds to its appeal among collectors.

Move it outside once temperatures are reliably above 50°F in summer, placing it in a spot with good air circulation but cover from rain. Prolonged moisture on the farina and into the rosette center can lead to rot. This plant is pet friendly, and you can leave it up to ten days without water, which suits households that travel regularly. Rotate the pot every few weeks indoors so all sides of the rosette receive equal light and growth stays even.

  •   Echeveria pringlei grows best in bright direct to bright indirect light, at least four to six hours daily.

Water it every ten to fourteen days in spring and summer, letting the soil dry out fully between waterings.

Echeveria pringlei does best in a fast-draining cactus and perlite mix, with a ratio of roughly 50% perlite.

It prefers temperatures between 60°F and 80°F and should stay above 50°F at all times.

Echeveria pringlei is a slow-growing succulent; feed it with a diluted balanced fertilizer once monthly in spring and summer only.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9b through 11, tolerating brief dips to around 25°F to 28°F at most. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, and along the Gulf Coast. It also does well outdoors through the warmer months in zones 8 and 9 across Georgia, Louisiana, South Carolina, and the Pacific Northwest coastal regions.
  • Q: How much light does Echeveria pringlei need indoors?
A: A south- or east-facing window works well. A south-facing window in summer can scorch the leaves, so a few feet back from the glass or a sheer curtain helps on the hottest days.

Q: How do I know when it needs water?
A: Echeveria pringlei will wilt slightly and the leaves may feel less firm when the soil has been dry too long. Check the top inch or two of soil before watering.

Q: Is Echeveria pringlei safe for cats and dogs?
A: Yes, it is non-toxic and pet friendly for both cats and dogs.

Q: What happens if I overwater it?
A: Echeveria pringlei is prone to root rot if the soil stays wet. The lower leaves will turn mushy and translucent, and the stem may soften at the base.

Q: Can Echeveria pringlei go outside in summer?
A: Yes, move it outside once nighttime temperatures stay above 50°F. Keep it under an overhang or cover it during rain, as water pooling in the rosette or sitting on the farina can cause rot.

Q: How fast does it grow?
A: Echeveria pringlei is a slow grower. Expect the rosette to expand gradually over several growing seasons rather than filling out within a single year.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
