  •   Crassula perforata ssp. kougaensis is a rare trailing succulent native to the Kouga region of South Africa's Eastern Cape. It is a member of the Crassulaceae family and grows naturally among rocky outcrops and dry scrubland, making it exceptionally well-adapted to low-water, high-light conditions both indoors and outdoors.

Small, fleshy triangular leaves stack neatly along each stem in opposite pairs, creating a stacked-leaf structure. The gray-green foliage develops soft pink or blush edges when exposed to sufficient light, and the clustering, trailing habit produces cascading stems that spill over pot edges. Crassula Kougaensis grows as a spreading, low-profile succulent rather than an upright form.

It produces small, star-shaped flowers in pale white to soft yellow tones, typically appearing in late winter through spring. The blooms appear without requiring any special treatment to encourage them.

Move it outside in summer in a bright, sheltered spot with cover from rain to prevent waterlogged soil. Crassula Kougaensis works well in hanging baskets, on high shelves, or cascading over sunny windowsills. Keep it on a high shelf out of reach since cats and dogs shouldn't nibble or eat the plant, and the sap can cause skin or paw irritation. Bring it indoors before temperatures drop in autumn.

  •   Crassula perforata ssp. kougaensis grows well in bright indirect light to partial or full sun, though it can scorch in intense south-facing windows during peak summer.

Water it every 10-14 days during the growing season, letting soil dry completely between waterings, and reduce to once monthly in winter.

Crassula Kougaensis does best in a gritty, fast-draining mix such as cactus soil blended with 30-50% perlite or coarse sand.

It prefers temperatures between 50-85°F and should be brought indoors before temperatures approach freezing.

Crassula Kougaensis is a trailing succulent that benefits from a diluted balanced fertilizer once or twice during the active growing season.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9-11, where winter temperatures rarely drop below 25°F. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, and Nevada. Coastal areas of Oregon and Washington within zone 9 can also support this drought-tolerant succulent outdoors, while growers in cooler states move it indoors through the colder months.
  • Q: How often should I water Crassula perforata ssp. kougaensis?
A: During spring and summer, water when the top inch of soil is dry. In winter, space waterings to once monthly. The leaves will soften slightly as the soil approaches complete dryness.

Q: Is this succulent safe around pets and children?
A: Crassula perforata ssp. kougaensis can cause skin or paw irritation if pets or children contact the sap. Keep it on a high shelf well out of reach of pets and small children.

Q: What window placement works best for Crassula Kougaensis?
A: Bright indirect light or a west or east-facing window works well. Rotate it regularly for even growth on all sides.

Q: Can I propagate without special equipment?
A: Crassula Kougaensis stem cuttings root readily. Let a cut stem callous for a day or two, then place it in dry, gritty soil and water lightly after a week.

Q: Does Crassula Kougaensis need special care to produce flowers?
A: Blooms appear during late winter and spring with standard care. The small white to pale yellow star-shaped flowers emerge without additional treatment or seasonal adjustments.

Q: How large does this plant grow, and is it considered a rare find?
A: Crassula Kougaensis is a spreading, trailing succulent that cascades over pot edges rather than growing tall. It is far less commonly found than standard Crassula perforata.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
