  •   Crassula ovata f. variegata is a variegated form of the jade plant, native to the rocky arid regions of South Africa and Mozambique. Known as a friendship plant and money plant, it belongs to the Crassulaceae family and is grown worldwide for its resilience.

The leaves are thick, glossy, and oval-shaped, edged and streaked with creamy yellow against soft green, giving it a lemon-and-lime appearance that collectors also call tricolor jade. It grows upright in a clustering habit, gradually building into a tree-like silhouette with confident structure. The fleshy leaves hold water and stack along each stem in a way that makes this succulent a statement piece on any shelf or windowsill.

With a cool night temperature drop in autumn, Crassula Variegata produces clusters of small, star-shaped pale pink to white flowers in late autumn to winter, each carrying a light fragrance. The plant also releases oxygen at night.

Position it on a well-lit windowsill, desk, or office shelf in bright indirect light, and it grows well under office LEDs when natural light is limited. Move it outside in summer to soak up warmth, though it needs cover from rain to protect its roots from oversaturation. You can leave it up to ten days without water. Keep it on a high shelf away from cats, dogs, and small children.

  •   Crassula ovata f. variegata grows well in bright indirect light and scorches easily in direct south-facing windows.

Water it deeply every 2-3 weeks in summer, reducing to once a month in winter.

Crassula Variegata does best in fast-draining succulent or cactus mix blended with perlite for optimal root health.

It prefers temperatures between 65-75°F and should be protected from temperatures below 32°F.

Crassula Variegata is a slow-growing succulent that benefits from a balanced fertilizer applied once in spring and once in summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9-11, tolerating brief dips to around 25-30°F but performing best with frost-free winters. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, Nevada, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Mississippi. It also grows along the mild Oregon coast and in the warmer pockets of New Mexico and coastal North Carolina.
  • Q: How much light does Crassula ovata f. variegata need?
A: Bright indirect light is best; rotate it regularly for even growth. Direct south-facing sun will scorch the variegated leaves.

Q: How often should I water during the growing season?
A: Crassula ovata f. variegata needs deep watering every 2-3 weeks, allowing the soil to dry fully between waterings. In winter, cut back to once a month.

Q: Is Crassula Variegata safe around pets and children?
A: No, keep it on a high shelf out of reach from cats, dogs, and small children.

Q: How fast does it grow?
A: Crassula Variegata grows slowly, adding modest height each year and gradually building into a tree-like form.

Q: Can Crassula Variegata be propagated?
A: Yes, it propagates from stem or leaf cuttings; allow them to callous for a day or two before placing in dry succulent mix, with stem cuttings rooting most reliably.

    Q: Will it flower indoors?
A: Crassula Variegata produces pale pink or white flowers when given a cool night temperature drop in autumn, bright light, and a dry winter rest.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
