  •   Coral Cactus is a rare grafted succulent created by joining a crested Euphorbia lactea onto an Euphorbia neriifolia rootstock, producing a sculptural plant that does not occur in nature. This one-of-a-kind indoor plant is sought after by succulent collectors for its architectural form and minimal care needs.

The plant earns its name from the wavy, fan-shaped crest that ripples along the top of the graft, resembling brain coral or a mermaid's tail. The crested portion shows blue-grey and green tones with a ruffled, almost alien texture, while the sturdy upright rootstock below provides a clean, sculptural base. No two plants are identical, and each one develops its own unique crest formation over time.

Blooms rarely appear indoors and are tiny and inconspicuous when they do. One important note: the sap causes skin and paw irritation on contact, so always wear gloves when handling and wash your hands thoroughly afterward.

Position it on a shelf, desk, or sunny windowsill where you can appreciate its sculptural shape up close. Choose a bright spot and avoid moving it frequently. You can leave it up to ten days without water.

  •   Coral Cactus grows well in bright indirect light and scorches easily in direct south-facing windows.

Water it every 2–3 weeks in summer and once a month in winter, allowing soil to dry completely between waterings.

Coral Cactus grows well in a fast-draining cactus and succulent mix amended with extra perlite to prevent root rot.

It prefers temperatures between 60–95°F and should never be exposed to frost or cold drafts from air conditioning or heaters.

Coral Cactus is a slow grower and benefits from a low-nitrogen cactus fertilizer applied once in spring and once in early summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 10–11, tolerating temperatures no lower than 30–35°F before sustaining damage. It grows outdoors year-round in Hawaii, southern Florida, and frost-free pockets of southern California. It can also grow in warmer areas of Texas, Arizona, Louisiana, and coastal southern Georgia and South Carolina with winter protection, though most growers in other states keep it as an indoor plant and move it outside only during summer months.
  • Q: How often should I water Coral Cactus?
A: Every 2–3 weeks during the growing season, letting the soil dry out completely. Cut back to once a month in winter.

Q: Is this plant safe around pets?
A: Keep Coral Cactus well out of reach of cats and dogs. The sap causes skin and paw irritation, and it is toxic if nibbled or ingested.

Q: Can Coral Cactus grow under artificial light?
A: Yes, it grows well under strong office LEDs as long as the light is bright and indirect, avoiding the intense direct rays that cause scorching.

Q: Why is this plant considered rare?
A: Coral Cactus is hand-grafted individually, and the crested form is a natural mutation that must be reproduced through skilled grafting rather than simple propagation, making each plant genuinely unique.

Q: Can Coral Cactus tolerate travel?
A: It can go unwatered for up to ten days, making it suitable for short trips.

Q: What happens if the plant gets too much water?
A: Overwatering leads to root rot, especially in cool months. Coral Cactus requires soil to dry fully between waterings, with reduced frequency in winter when growth slows.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
