  •   Euphorbia Enopla, also called Hedgehog Euphorbia, is a rare succulent native to the Eastern Cape of South Africa, where it grows in rocky, arid landscapes with intense sun and minimal rainfall. It belongs to the large Euphorbia genus, making it a true collector find for plant enthusiasts seeking architectural character with straightforward care.

It grows in an upright, clustering habit, producing ribbed, cylindrical stems lined with reddish-purple spines that deepen in color under bright light. The green to purple-tinged stems cluster outward over time, creating an upright silhouette that works equally well on a shelf or as a focal point in a modern space. The spines are densely packed along each stem.

Small, bright yellow cyathia blooms appear near the stem tips, typically in spring and summer. These cheerful yellow flowers emerge seasonally on a plant already earning its place through sheer structural presence and spine drama.

You can leave it up to ten days without water. Move it outside in summer to encourage robust clustering growth, but keep it covered from rain to prevent root rot. Place it on a high shelf to keep it out of reach, as the milky sap can cause skin and paw irritation.

  •   Euphorbia Enopla Cactus grows in bright indirect light to full direct sun, though south-facing windows may scorch stems in peak summer heat.

Water it deeply every 2-3 weeks in summer, reducing to once a month or less in winter when growth slows.

Euphorbia Enopla does best in a fast-draining cactus and succulent mix blended with extra perlite or coarse grit to prevent moisture retention.

It prefers temperatures between 50-95°F and should be brought indoors before temperatures drop near freezing.

Euphorbia Enopla is a moderate grower that benefits from diluted cactus fertilizer applied once a month during the active growing season.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9-11, tolerating brief dips to around 25°F but performing best where winters stay mild. It grows outdoors year-round in southern Florida, California, Texas, Arizona, Hawaii, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, and Nevada. Parts of coastal Oregon, New Mexico, and select microclimates in Arkansas and North Carolina also provide suitable conditions for this drought-tolerant succulent.
  • Q: How often should I water Euphorbia Enopla Cactus?
A: During the growing season, allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering and wet soil are far more damaging than underwatering; err on the side of dryness.

Q: Is this plant safe for cats and dogs?
A: Euphorbia Enopla Cactus should be kept out of reach of pets, as the sap causes skin and paw irritation. Place it on a high shelf to prevent nibbling or ingestion.

Q: What window direction works best for Euphorbia Enopla indoors?
A: East or west-facing windows provide steady light without intense midday heat. North-facing windows work if they receive several hours of bright indirect light. South-facing windows can scorch the stems in peak summer, so filter direct afternoon sun with a sheer curtain.

Q: How fast does it grow?
A: Euphorbia Enopla produces new clusters over the growing season at a measured pace. Growth accelerates in warm months and slows significantly once temperatures drop.

Q: Can Hedgehog Euphorbia be propagated at home?
A: Yes. Remove an offset or stem cutting, let it callous for several days, then plant it in dry, well-draining cactus mix. Always wear gloves when handling cuttings, as the milky sap irritates skin.

Q: What causes yellowing on the stems?
A: Hedgehog Euphorbia yellows when soil stays too wet or drainage is inadequate. Ensure your soil dries fully between waterings and your pot has drainage holes.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
