  •   Sempervivum 'Trazo' is a hardy succulent belonging to the Crassulaceae family, native to the mountainous regions of Europe and western Asia. Like all sempervivums, it evolved to survive rocky terrain, poor soils, and harsh winters, and is a true hens and chicks plant that naturally produces offsets clustering around the mother rosette over time.

Trazo forms tight, geometric rosettes with fleshy, pointed leaves in red and green tones. The leaves are edged with fine cilia, giving each rosette a fringed appearance. As a clustering grower, it spreads steadily into a full, dense mat that stays compact at the individual rosette level.

Each rosette blooms once in its lifetime and then dies, but the surrounding offsets continue to expand the plant. It is a confirmed pollen and allergen producer, so those with sensitivities may want to keep that in mind during bloom season.

Trazo handles balcony wind and rain with ease and grows well in rock gardens, alpine troughs, and container displays. It stays outdoors through autumn and into frost without skipping a beat and is fully pet-friendly with no toxins. You can leave it up to ten days without water.

  •   Sempervivum 'Trazo' grows well in partial sun to full sun, receiving at least four to six hours of direct light daily.

Water it deeply but infrequently, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings, roughly every two to three weeks indoors.

Trazo does best in a gritty, fast-draining mix such as cactus and succulent soil blended with perlite or coarse sand.

It handles temperatures well below freezing, growing well from around 25°F and above.

Trazo is a slow to moderate grower that needs little to no fertilizer, though a light feed in spring can encourage offset production.

It is hardy in USDA zones 4 through 9, tolerating winter temperatures as low as around -30°F at the colder end of that range. It grows outdoors in Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.
  • Q: Is Sempervivum 'Trazo' pet friendly?
A: It is not toxic to cats or dogs, making it a safe choice for pet-owning households and gardens.

Q: How much light does it need?
A: Sempervivum 'Trazo' performs best when rotated periodically for even, balanced rosette growth on all sides.

Q: Can Trazo handle outdoor conditions like wind and rain?
A: It handles balcony wind and rain well, though prolonged heavy rain in poorly draining soil can cause rot. Use a fast-draining gritty mix for outdoor placement.

Q: How does it spread and propagate?
A: Trazo naturally spreads by producing small offsets called chicks around the mother rosette. Simply separate these offsets and replant them to expand your collection.

    Q: Is Trazo frost hardy?
A: It tolerates temperatures as low as -30°F, allowing it to remain outdoors through autumn and winter in USDA zones 4 through 9 without protection.

Q: How often should I water it?
A: In cool or wet outdoor conditions, water needs drop significantly compared to indoor growing; indoors, check the soil before watering to avoid overwatering, which causes more problems than underwatering for this species.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
