    •   Rebutia Perplexa, also called Pink Crown Cactus, is a small clustering cactus native to the rocky highlands of South America. It grows in thin soils and endures dramatic temperature swings between day and night in its native habitat.

        It forms tight, low clumps of small globular stems covered in neat, symmetrical spirals of soft white spines. The clustering growth habit means one specimen gradually becomes a colony of offsets, with each rounded head staying compact and tidy. Individual stems typically reach 2 to 4 inches in diameter, making it suited for small spaces and sunny windowsills.

        When Rebutia Perplexa blooms, it produces vivid pink flowers that encircle the base of each stem like a crown, which is the source of its common name. Blooms typically appear in spring after a nighttime temperature drop in late winter, around 45 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. A cooler night environment paired with reduced watering during dormancy will trigger an abundance of pink color that lasts for days.

        You can leave it up to ten days without water. Move it outside in summer for extra light and airflow; just cover it or bring it under shelter during heavy rain. It is cat friendly and dog friendly, though it does produce pollen that may affect allergy-sensitive households. Rotate it occasionally for even, balanced growth, and keep it away from direct AC or heater vents.
