  •   Echeveria 'Costa Brava' is a purple-blue succulent from the Crassulaceae family, native to the mountainous regions of Mexico. It grows naturally in rocky, well-draining soils and adapts easily to home collections.

'Costa Brava' forms neat rosettes 6–8 inches across with thick, spoon-shaped leaves that taper to gentle points. The foliage is blue-purple with a silvery, powdery coating called farina that gives the leaves a distinctive appearance. This coating protects the plant while intensifying its coloration.

In spring and early summer, 'Costa Brava' sends up tall flower stalks topped with bell-shaped blooms in coral-pink hues that contrast against the purple-blue leaves. A slight drop in nighttime temperatures encourages fuller flowering. The plant is completely safe around cats and dogs.

You can leave it up to ten days without water. Move it outside in summer, but keep it covered from rain to protect the farina coating. It wilts slightly when dry, showing you exactly when to water. 'Costa Brava' handles dry heated air.

  •   Echeveria 'Costa Brava' grows well in bright indirect light or partial sun, avoiding direct sun which can scorch the leaves.

Water it every 7–14 days, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings.

'Costa Brava' does best in well-draining cactus and succulent potting mix with added perlite or pumice.

It prefers temperatures between 65–75°F and is not frost tolerant below 32°F.

'Costa Brava' grows slowly and needs diluted succulent fertilizer only 2–3 times during the growing season.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9–11 and cannot tolerate frost below 32°F. It grows outdoors year-round in Florida, Hawaii, southern California, southern Texas, southern Arizona, southern Nevada, and parts of Louisiana and Georgia. It also grows well in coastal areas of South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, and southern Oregon where temperatures rarely drop below freezing.
  • Q: How often should I water Echeveria 'Costa Brava'?
A: When the soil is completely dry, wilting indicates thirst. This typically occurs every 7–14 days, though the schedule varies by season and humidity.

Q: Is it safe for pets?
A: Echeveria 'Costa Brava' is completely non-toxic and safe for cats and dogs.

Q: What light does 'Costa Brava' need indoors?
A: A north or east-facing window provides bright indirect light without afternoon scorch.

Q: How large does the rosette get?
A: 'Costa Brava' reaches about 6–8 inches across, staying compact enough for shelves or desks without sprawling.

Q: Can 'Costa Brava' survive outdoors in winter?
A: Only in zones 9–11 where temperatures stay above 32°F. Move it indoors before the first frost in colder regions.

    Q: Is humidity required?
A: Low humidity is better for 'Costa Brava'. Moist air increases the risk of rot and causes the protective farina coating to deteriorate.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
