  •   Aloe Vera is a succulent in the Asphodelaceae family, used for centuries as a healing plant and medicinal aloe. Native to the Arabian Peninsula, it has naturalized across Africa, the Mediterranean, and tropical regions worldwide, growing in warm, arid climates with well-drained soils.

It grows in an upright rosette habit with thick, fleshy, lance-shaped leaves that fan outward in a clumping arrangement. The leaves are pale to blue-green with subtle white spots and serrated edges lined with small teeth, storing a clear, gel-filled sap throughout their structure.

Under the right conditions, it produces tall flower spikes rising from the center of the rosette with tubular yellow to orange blooms. Flowering typically occurs in winter or early spring when nighttime temperatures drop, and a mature plant will respond to seasonal temperature swings by sending up flowers.

It purifies indoor air by filtering formaldehyde and other toxins while releasing oxygen at night. Place it on a sunny windowsill, kitchen counter, or summer patio. Keep it away from cats, dogs, and small children, as the sap can cause skin irritation and the leaves shouldn't be nibbled. You can leave it up to ten days without water.

  •   Aloe Vera grows well in bright indirect light to full sun, though intense south-facing windows during peak summer can scorch the leaves.

Water it deeply every 2-3 weeks in spring and summer, reducing to once a month or less in winter when growth slows.

Aloe Vera performs best in a fast-draining cactus and succulent mix amended with extra perlite or coarse sand.

It prefers temperatures between 55-80°F and should be brought indoors before temperatures approach 32°F.

Aloe Vera is a slow to moderate grower that needs feeding only once in spring with a balanced, diluted succulent fertilizer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9-11, tolerating brief dips to around 25-30°F but performing best where frosts are rare or absent. It grows outdoors year-round in southern Florida, Hawaii, southern California, Arizona, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and along the Oregon and California coasts. It also grows in sheltered microclimates in Nevada, coastal North Carolina, and New Mexico with winter protection.
  • Q: How often should I water Aloe Vera?
A: Every 2-3 weeks in the growing season, letting the soil dry out completely between waterings. In winter, reduce to once a month or even less.

Q: What kind of light does it need indoors?
A: Aloe Vera does best in a well-lit window with bright indirect light or partial sun. Direct afternoon sun in an unobstructed south-facing window can cause leaf scorching during summer heat.

Q: Is Aloe Vera safe around pets?
A: No. Cats and dogs shouldn't nibble or eat it, as the sap causes skin and paw irritation. A high shelf keeps everyone safe.

Q: Can I move it outside in summer?
A: Move it outdoors in summer to a warm, sunny spot. Cover it or move it under shelter during heavy rain, as Aloe Vera needs dry conditions and excess moisture causes root rot.

Q: How big does Aloe Vera get, and how fast does it grow?
A: It typically reaches 1-2 feet tall and wide at maturity at a slow to moderate pace. It also produces offshoots called pups that you can separate and repot to grow new plants.

Q: Can this plant survive while I travel?
A: Aloe Vera can go 10 days or more without water, storing it in thick leaves. It wilts slightly when thirsty.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
*** We pack carefully to protect each plant during transit, so larger orders may arrive in multiple packages.
