  •   Pachysedum 'Ganzhou' is a rare succulent hybrid in the Crassulaceae family that blends traits from two distinct parent genera into one compact, upright rosette. It originated in cultivation and grows well for both beginner and experienced collectors.

The plant forms tight rosettes of thick, fleshy leaves that shift from green to pink and lavender tones under strong light. Each leaf is smooth, slightly pointed, and coated in a powdery farina that gives the foliage a soft, pastel appearance. The leaves remain tightly packed upright, creating a sculptural rosette form whether displayed alone or grouped with other succulents.

Pachysedum 'Ganzhou' may produce blooms when exposed to nighttime temperature drops, a flowering trigger common in rosette succulents. Outside of bloom season, the leaf color shifts with light exposure and seasonal temperature swings. It is non-toxic to cats and dogs, so it is safe for households with pets.

You can leave it up to ten days without water. Move it outside in summer to intensify its pink coloration, but shield it from heavy rain to prevent root oversaturation. Introduce outdoor light gradually to avoid scorching. Avoid placing it in front of air conditioning or heating vents, as the dry air stresses the foliage. The rosette spreads slowly, reaching 3 to 4 inches in diameter within one to two years under ideal conditions.

  •   Pachysedum 'Ganzhou' grows well in bright indirect light, partial sun, or full sun with several hours of direct light daily. A south or east-facing window works well; intense south-facing sun during summer months may cause leaf edges to lighten or brown.

Water it deeply every 10 to 14 days during the growing season, and once every 3 to 4 weeks in winter.

Pachysedum 'Ganzhou' does best in a fast-draining cactus and perlite mix, roughly 50/50, to prevent root rot.

It prefers temperatures between 65 and 85°F and should be protected below 40°F.

Pachysedum 'Ganzhou' grows at a moderate pace and needs only a light balanced fertilizer once in spring and once in summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9 through 11 and requires frost protection below 20 to 25°F. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Texas, Arizona, Florida, Hawaii, Nevada, and Louisiana. It also grows well in sheltered spots throughout coastal Oregon, the warmer parts of Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, New Mexico, parts of Arkansas, and the milder coastal zones of North Carolina and Virginia.
  • Q: How often should I water Pachysedum 'Ganzhou'?
A: Every 10 to 14 days during the growing season, letting the soil dry completely between waterings. Reduce to once every 3 to 4 weeks in winter.

Q: Is this plant safe for households with pets?
A: Pachysedum 'Ganzhou' is non-toxic to cats and dogs and safe for homes with curious pets.

Q: What happens if I don't acclimate Pachysedum 'Ganzhou' before moving it outdoors?
A: Without gradual acclimation, it can scorch and fade when exposed to full outdoor sun too quickly. Introduce it gradually over a few days to prevent shock and leaf damage.

Q: Can it tolerate low light indoors?
A: Pachysedum 'Ganzhou' prefers bright windows with several hours of direct or partial sun daily. In low light, the rosette will loosen and lose its pink coloration over time.

Q: How do I propagate Pachysedum 'Ganzhou'?
A: Propagate from leaf cuttings or offsets allowed to callous for a day or two before placing on dry, well-draining soil. Roots typically appear within a few weeks in warm, bright conditions.

Q: Is this difficult to maintain?
A: Pachysedum 'Ganzhou' needs bright light and infrequent watering. Water sparingly and allow soil to dry completely between waterings to prevent root rot.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
