  •   Fittonia 'Pink', also called Nerve Plant, is a tropical foliage plant native to the rainforests of South America, particularly Peru and neighboring regions. It belongs to the Acanthaceae family and grows naturally on the humid forest floor beneath dense canopy cover.

The leaves are small and oval, forest green with a dense network of vivid pink veins running across the entire surface. This pink-veined pattern covers each leaf fully, with no fading toward the edges. 'Pink' spreads low and wide, forming a dense mat of foliage that can also trail over the edges of a container.

It produces tiny, inconspicuous white or pale flowers on upright spikes, though blooming indoors is uncommon and the foliage remains the primary feature year-round. 'Pink' is pet-friendly and also purifies indoor air, filtering formaldehyde and other airborne toxins while naturally adding moisture to the surrounding air.

Rotating it every week or two keeps growth even on all sides. 'Pink' grows well in terrariums, where the enclosed humidity suits it closely, and also thrives near kitchen moisture. It is sensitive to being moved and may wilt or drop leaves after a position change. Keep it away from air conditioning vents and heater airflow, as both dry out the air around it quickly.

  •   Fittonia 'Pink' grows well under bright indirect light, including office LED setups, but scorches in a south-facing window.

It needs watering when the top inch of soil is dry, typically every five to seven days, and wilts visibly when thirsty.

'Pink' does best in a well-draining, peat-based mix with added perlite to retain moisture without waterlogging the roots.

It prefers temperatures between 60°F and 80°F and suffers when exposed to cold drafts or sudden temperature swings.

'Pink' is a slow to moderate grower that benefits from a balanced liquid fertilizer applied monthly during the spring and summer growing season.

It is hardy in USDA zones 11 and 12, where frost does not occur and temperatures stay above 50°F year-round. It grows outdoors in Hawaii and southernmost Florida, where the warm, humid climate matches its native rainforest conditions. In all other US states, it performs best as a permanent indoor plant.
  • Q: How much light does Fittonia 'Pink' need indoors?
A: A north or east-facing windowsill works well, keeping it out of direct afternoon sun. Leaves develop pale or crispy patches when exposed to too much direct light.

Q: Is this plant safe for cats and dogs?
A: Fittonia 'Pink' is non-toxic and pet-friendly, so it is safe to keep in homes with cats and dogs.

Q: How do I know when 'Pink' needs water?
A: The leaves droop and go slightly limp when the soil has dried out too long. Checking the top inch of soil before watering helps avoid overwatering, which causes yellowing leaves and soggy stems.

Q: Why are the leaves on my plant turning yellow?
A: 'Pink' most often develops yellow leaves from overwatering, low humidity, or exposure to dry air from a heater or AC vent. Check that the pot drains freely and that the air around it stays humid.

Q: Is Nerve Plant a good terrarium plant?
A: It is one of the most suitable plants for a closed or semi-closed terrarium because the enclosed environment holds the high humidity it needs naturally.

Q: How do I propagate Nerve Plant?
A: Nerve Plant roots easily from stem cuttings taken just below a leaf node. Place the cutting in moist soil or water and keep it in a warm, humid spot until roots develop, usually within two to three weeks.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
