  •   Crassula Cotyledonis is a rare paddle succulent native to the rocky, arid regions of South Africa. It grows in dry conditions with minimal rainfall and develops a grey-green rosette with a sculptural, geometric form that clusters and builds upright over time.

The plant produces fleshy, paddle-shaped leaves arranged in a compact rosette. The leaves are soft grey-green with a slightly powdery, matte texture. As it matures, a single plant gradually fills its pot with layered rosettes that stack in an almost architectural arrangement, creating a tiered effect.

It is responsive to nighttime temperature drops, which encourage it to push into bloom when conditions are right. Position it on a bright windowsill, a sunny patio in summer, or a curated shelf of drought-tolerant succulents. Move it outside for the warmer months but provide cover from heavy rain to prevent excess moisture at the roots.

Keep it on a high shelf away from cats, dogs, and small children, as the leaves should not be nibbled or eaten. You can leave it up to ten days without water.

  •   Crassula Cotyledonis grows well in bright indirect light, partial sun, or full sun, but may scorch in intense south-facing windows without afternoon shade.

Water it thoroughly every 10-14 days in summer, reducing to once every 3-4 weeks in winter when growth slows. Let the soil dry completely between waterings.

Crassula Cotyledonis performs best in a gritty, well-draining cactus and succulent mix amended with perlite or coarse sand.

It prefers temperatures between 60-85°F and should be brought indoors before temperatures drop near freezing.

Crassula Cotyledonis is a slow to moderate grower that benefits from a diluted balanced fertilizer once a month during spring and summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9-11, tolerating brief dips no lower than around 25-30°F before needing protection. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico, and Louisiana. It also grows well along the milder coastal and southern stretches of Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, and coastal Oregon where hard freezes are rare.
  • Q: How often should I water Crassula Cotyledonis?
A: Every 10-14 days in warm months, scaling back to every 3-4 weeks in winter. Overwatering causes root rot, so let the soil dry completely between waterings.

Q: What kind of light does it need?
A: Crassula Cotyledonis thrives in bright indirect light to partial or full sun. Watch for brown or tan patches on the leaves, which indicate excessive direct afternoon sun in south-facing exposures.

Q: Is Crassula Cotyledonis safe for pets?
A: No. Cats and dogs shouldn't nibble or eat the leaves, so keep it on a high shelf well out of their reach. The same applies to toddlers and small children.

Q: Can it go outside in summer?
A: Crassula Cotyledonis loves spending the warmer months outdoors in a bright, sheltered spot. Make sure it has cover from heavy rain and bring it back inside before temperatures drop in autumn.

Q: How do I propagate Crassula Cotyledonis?
A: Allow stem or leaf cuttings to callous for a day or two before placing on dry, well-draining succulent mix. New growth typically appears within a few weeks.

Q: Why is it considered rare?
A: Crassula Cotyledonis isn't widely stocked in mainstream garden centers. The grey-green rosette form stacks into a tiered, sculptural effect as the plant matures.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
