The Stromanthe Sanguinea (Stromanthe Thalia) is a breathtaking tropical perennial prized for its dramatic, multicolored foliage. It is a member of the Marantaceae (Prayer Plant) family.
Like its cousins the Calathea and Maranta, this plant is a "prayer plant." Its leaves move throughout the day to catch the light and fold up vertically at night, revealing their vibrant undersides. The upper side of the leaf features shades of olive green, cream, and pink, while the underside is a solid, brilliant burgundy or magenta.

Bright, indirect light. Direct sun will scorch and bleach the leaves. Too little light will cause the vibrant pink and white variegation to fade to green.
Keep soil consistently moist but not soggy.
A well-draining, peat-based potting mix.
Stromanthe Sanguineas grow best in normal room temperatures (between 65°F-80°F). They are not frost-tolerant and do not grow well when the temperature drops below 50°F. Avoid high humidity.
Stromanthe Sanguinea should be fertilized once during the growing season (spring/summer) with diluted houseplant fertilizer.
This plant is non-toxic to cats, dogs, and humans. It is a very safe choice for pet owners.
