  •   Anthurium 'White', also called White Flamingo Flower, is a tropical flowering plant from the Araceae family, native to the rainforests of Central and South America. It grows naturally in humid, shaded understory conditions, clinging to trees and rocky slopes where filtered light and warm air keep it thriving year-round.

'White' produces broad, heart-shaped leaves in deep forest green, held upright on slender stems that give the plant a clean, open silhouette. The spathe, the flat modified leaf that frames the flower spike, is a bright, smooth white, and the contrasting spadix runs pale yellow to cream. The foliage is glossy and firm, and the overall form is upright and compact, fitting well on shelves, in baskets, or as a floor specimen in a roomy corner.

The white spathe and upright spadix appear across multiple seasons, and in consistently warm indoor conditions 'White' can produce blooms repeatedly throughout the year. Each spathe holds its color for several weeks before gradually fading to pale green. It carries no notable fragrance, but the long bloom cycle and the clean contrast between the white spathe and green leaves keep it visually active for extended periods.

Rotate it every few weeks so all sides of the plant receive even light exposure. 'White' does best away from air conditioning vents and heating units, as the dry airflow dries out the foliage. A spot near a kitchen or bathroom benefits it, as the ambient moisture from those rooms supports the high humidity it needs. Cats, dogs, and small children should be kept away from it, as the sap causes skin and paw irritation and the plant is harmful if ingested. Keep it on a high shelf or in a location that stays out of reach. On the plus side, 'White' actively purifies indoor air, filtering formaldehyde and other household toxins as a confirmed air purifying plant.

  •   Anthurium 'White' thrives in bright indirect light, placed near an east or north-facing window.

It needs water every seven to ten days, allowing the top inch of soil to dry out between sessions.

'White' does best in a chunky, well-draining mix of orchid bark, perlite, and peat or coco coir.

It prefers temperatures between 65°F and 85°F and should not drop below 55°F.

'White' is a slow to moderate grower and benefits from a balanced liquid fertilizer applied monthly in spring and summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 11 and 12, where frost is not a concern and outdoor temperatures stay above 50°F year-round. It grows outdoors in Hawaii and southern Florida, where the warm, humid climate matches its native rainforest conditions. In all other US states, it performs best as a permanent indoor plant.
  • Q: How much humidity does Anthurium 'White' need to stay healthy?
A: It needs humidity above 60 percent. A pebble tray with water, a nearby humidifier, or a spot in the kitchen or bathroom all help maintain that level indoors.

Q: How do I know when this plant needs water?
A: Anthurium 'White' wilts slightly when the soil has been dry too long. Check the top inch of soil, and if the leaves look limp before that point, the pot may be drying out faster than expected.

Q: Can 'White' grow under office LED lighting?
A: It can, as long as the LED fixture is a full-spectrum grow light placed close enough to compensate for the lack of natural light. Standard cool-white office lighting alone is generally not sufficient.

Q: Why are the leaves on this plant turning yellow?
A: 'White' most often yellows from overwatering. If the soil stays wet for extended periods, the roots begin to suffocate and the leaves lose their green. Less commonly, yellowing appears when the plant has been exposed to cold drafts or moved to a significantly darker spot.

Q: Is White Flamingo Flower safe to keep around pets?
A: Cats and dogs should not be left where they can chew or eat the plant. The sap also causes irritation on contact with skin or paws, so keep it on a high shelf out of their reach.

Q: How do I propagate this plant?
A: White Flamingo Flower is propagated by stem cuttings taken just below a node, or by division at the root ball during repotting. Cuttings root best in a moist mix of perlite and coco coir with consistent warmth above 70°F.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
