  •   Scindapsus pictus 'Splash', also called Silver Splash Pothos, is a rare trailing houseplant from the Scindapsus genus native to the tropical forests of Southeast Asia. There it climbs trees in warm, humid conditions, and the same vining growth habit translates well to indoor spaces.

Heart-shaped leaves splashed with irregular silvery markings over a deep green base give each leaf a hand-painted, almost metallic look. The foliage has a subtle satin sheen and slightly quilted texture, and because no two leaves are identical, every plant carries its own unique pattern. Long vines trail from shelves or hanging planters.

Scindapsus pictus 'Splash' is grown almost exclusively for its foliage rather than its blooms, which are rarely seen in typical indoor conditions. It filters formaldehyde and other toxins from the air.

Rotate it every few weeks for even, balanced growth. The leaves will wilt slightly when the plant needs water, so you always know when to water. Keep it on a high shelf out of reach, as cats, dogs, and small children should not handle or nibble the plant; the sap can cause skin or paw irritation on contact.

  •   Silver Splash Pothos grows well in medium light or bright indirect light, but scorches easily in south-facing windows with intense direct sun.

Water it every 7 to 10 days, allowing the top inch of soil to dry between waterings.

Scindapsus pictus 'Splash' does best in a well-draining mix of standard potting soil blended with perlite for healthy, breathable roots.

It prefers temperatures between 65 and 85°F and should never be exposed to frost or temperatures below 50°F.

Scindapsus pictus 'Splash' is a moderate to fast grower; feed it monthly in spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 10 to 12. It grows outdoors year-round in Hawaii, southern Florida, and southernmost Texas and California. It can be grown outdoors in summer across Arizona, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Nevada, and along the mild Oregon and California coasts, though it needs to move inside before cold snaps arrive. In cooler states including Washington, Colorado, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas, New Mexico, and beyond, it grows as an indoor trailing houseplant.
  • Q: How often should I water Silver Splash Pothos?
A: Check the soil with your finger; when the top inch feels dry, water thoroughly until it drains from the bottom. In winter, reduce watering frequency as growth slows and the plant uses less moisture.

Q: What happens if I overwater it?
A: Silver Splash Pothos develops root rot and leaf yellowing when kept too wet. Always let the soil dry between waterings and use a pot with drainage holes.

Q: Can Scindapsus pictus 'Splash' be propagated?
A: Take a stem cutting just below a node, remove the lower leaves, and place it in water or moist potting mix. It roots readily within two to four weeks in warm, bright conditions.

Q: What window direction works best?
A: East or north-facing windows provide bright indirect light without scorching Scindapsus pictus 'Splash'. Keep it a few feet back from south-facing windows where direct afternoon sun will damage the leaves.

Q: How do I know if Silver Splash Pothos needs more light?
A: Slower growth and smaller new leaves indicate insufficient light. Move it closer to a window or add a grow light if new growth slows down.

    Q: Is the sap toxic?
A: Silver Splash Pothos sap can cause skin irritation and is harmful if ingested by pets or children. Wash your hands after handling and keep it on a high shelf out of reach.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
*** We pack carefully to protect each plant during transit, so larger orders may arrive in multiple packages.
