    •   Senecio radicans, also called String Of Bananas, is a trailing succulent native to the drier regions of South Africa, where it sprawls across ground and rocky outcrops. It belongs to the Asteraceae family and stores water in its curved leaves to survive extended dry periods, making it an excellent drought-tolerant plant for indoor and outdoor growing.

        The plant gets its name from its signature banana-shaped leaves, each one plump, glossy green, and slightly curved with a translucent stripe running along the top. Stems trail and vine freely, cascading over pot edges and hanging baskets with small, closely spaced leaves along the length that create a dense appearance as the vines elongate. It can reach 2 to 3 feet or longer with consistent bright indirect light and proper care.

        In autumn or winter, when temperatures drop at night, it produces clusters of small white to pale lavender daisy-like flowers with a light, sweet cinnamon fragrance. Blooms are not guaranteed every year but become more likely with seasonal temperature fluctuations. Rotate the pot every couple of weeks for balanced growth, and keep it away from air conditioning or heating vents, which stress the stems.
