  •   Graptoveria 'A Grim One' is a hybrid succulent in the Crassulaceae family, a cross between Graptopetalum and Echeveria. It originates from cultivation rather than a specific wild habitat, developed through controlled hybridization of two Mexican-native succulent genera.

'A Grim One' forms a compact rosette of thick, fleshy leaves in a silver-blue tone with soft pink tips that deepen in direct sun. The leaves are broad and slightly pointed, with a powdery coating called farina that gives the surface a frosted appearance. It stays compact and symmetrical as it grows, with a tight rosette structure that holds its shape year-round.

'A Grim One' needs a nighttime temperature drop to trigger blooming, which is common among Graptoveria hybrids. When it does bloom, it produces small flowers on a slender stem rising from the rosette center. Rotate it every few weeks so all sides of the rosette develop evenly without one side leaning toward the light source.

Move 'A Grim One' outside in summer, where full sun intensifies the pink tips on the leaves. Keep it covered or sheltered from rain, as water pooling in the rosette can cause rot. You can leave it up to ten days without water, and it wilts slightly when dry. This plant is pet friendly, and its compact size works well on a high shelf out of reach of toddlers.

  •   Graptoveria 'A Grim One' grows well in bright direct to indirect light, with at least four hours of sun daily.

Water it every ten to fourteen days in the growing season, letting the soil dry fully between waterings.

'A Grim One' does best in a well-draining cactus or succulent mix amended with perlite or coarse sand.

It prefers temperatures between 65°F and 85°F and tolerates dry heated indoor air without issue.

'A Grim One' is a slow grower; feed it with a diluted balanced fertilizer once monthly during spring and summer only.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9b through 11, tolerating lows of around 25°F to 40°F depending on the zone. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, and Nevada. It also does well outdoors through the warmer months in Georgia, South Carolina, Louisiana, and New Mexico.
  • Q: How much light does Graptoveria 'A Grim One' need indoors?
A: A south- or east-facing window works well. In a south-facing window with intense afternoon sun through glass, watch for white or brown patches on the leaves, which indicate scorching.

Q: How do I know when it needs water?
A: Graptoveria 'A Grim One' wilts slightly and the leaves feel less firm when the soil has been dry too long. Overwatering causes mushy, translucent leaves at the base of the rosette.

Q: Can 'A Grim One' go outside in summer?
A: Yes, move it outdoors once nighttime temperatures stay above 50°F. Place it in a spot sheltered from direct rainfall to keep water out of the rosette.

Q: Is this succulent safe for cats and dogs?
A: 'A Grim One' is non-toxic and pet friendly, safe for households with cats and dogs.

Q: How do I get 'A Grim One' to bloom?
A: Expose it to cooler nighttime temperatures in the 45°F to 55°F range during autumn. That temperature drop is what triggers the blooming cycle.

Q: How is this succulent typically propagated?
A: 'A Grim One' propagates readily from leaf cuttings or offsets. Allow a cut leaf to callous for one to two days before setting it on dry succulent mix, then mist lightly until roots appear.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
