  •   Adromischus cristatus, also called Crinkle-Leaf Plant, is a rare succulent in the Crassulaceae family native to the rocky outcrops and dry slopes of South Africa's Eastern Cape. This compact succulent has become a collector favorite for its textured foliage and low maintenance needs.

The leaves are thick and wedge-shaped with crinkled, wavy margins that look almost ruffled. It forms compact rosettes that cluster over time, creating a low, upright mounding habit in soft grey-green tones dusted with fine white hairs. Each leaf is plump and textured.

It is grown primarily for its foliage rather than for blooms. The clustering rosette habit means one plant gradually fills a pot with sculptural, layered growth that becomes more impressive each season.

You can leave it up to ten days without water. Move it outside in summer once nights stay above 50°F, but always give it cover from rain to protect the leaves and roots. Rotate it regularly for even, balanced rosette growth. Leaf cuttings propagate successfully: gently twist a healthy leaf free, let it callous for a day or two, then lay it on dry succulent mix.

  •   Key Lime Pie - Adromischus cristatus - Crinkle-Leaf Plant grows well in bright indirect light to partial sun, though it handles full sun if acclimated gradually.

Water it deeply every 10-14 days in summer, pulling back to once a month in winter when soil dries completely.

Adromischus cristatus does best in fast-draining succulent or cactus mix blended with perlite or coarse grit.

It prefers temperatures between 50-80°F and should be brought indoors before nights drop below 40°F.

Adromischus cristatus is a slow grower needing only light, balanced succulent fertilizer once or twice during spring and summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9-11, tolerating brief dips to around 25-30°F but performing best where winters stay mild. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Texas, Arizona, Florida, Hawaii, Nevada, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, and along the Oregon coast. It may also succeed outdoors in the warmer pockets of North Carolina, Arkansas, and New Mexico with a sheltered spot and cold-season protection.
  • Q: How often should I water Key Lime Pie - Adromischus cristatus - Crinkle-Leaf Plant?

Q: What light does this plant need indoors?
A: Key Lime Pie - Adromischus cristatus - Crinkle-Leaf Plant does best in bright indirect light or a spot with a few hours of direct morning sun; avoid intense south-facing exposure without gradual acclimation to prevent leaf scorch.

Q: Is Adromischus cristatus safe for pets?
A: No, this plant is not confirmed pet-safe, so keep it out of reach of cats, dogs, and curious toddlers.

Q: How do I propagate it?
A: Adromischus cristatus propagates most reliably from leaf cuttings. Gently twist a healthy leaf free, let it callous for a day or two, then lay it on dry succulent mix.

Q: Can Crinkle-Leaf Plant go outside in summer?
A: Yes, it loves fresh air and outdoor summer conditions; move it outside once nights stay above 50°F and always provide cover from rain.

A: It grows slowly, offsets modestly, and is not mass-produced, keeping it genuinely scarce in the succulent market.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
