It belongs to the Crassula genus within the Crassulaceae family and grows naturally in arid, sun-baked terrain where water is scarce and soils are lean.

        The plant is recognizable by its small, fleshy, triangular leaves stacked tightly along upright then trailing stems, resembling buttons on a string. Leaves are green with subtle yellow to reddish edges that intensify under bright light. It develops a clumping, clustering habit with a sculptural, layered presence as it matures and spreads.
