It forms tight, upright rosettes packed with thick, fleshy green leaves edged in white teeth that give it the iconic "tiger tooth" look. The leaves are firm and tapered, often blushing with warm reddish or orange tones when grown in bright light. At maturity, it reaches about 2 to 4 inches tall and spreads as a succulent that gradually fills out its pot through steady offset production.
Tiger Tooth Aloe can produce tall flower spikes topped with tubular orange-red blooms, typically appearing in late winter to spring. A slight drop in nighttime temperatures encourages more flowering.
You can leave it up to ten days without water. Move it outside in summer in a sheltered, bright spot, but provide cover from rain to prevent root rot. Keep it on a high shelf away from cats and dogs, as the sap can cause skin or paw irritation. The plant naturally produces offsets, or pups, around the base that can be gently separated and potted up once they develop a few leaves of their own.
Tiger Tooth Aloe Juvenna - Aloe-mitriformis grows well in bright indirect light, partial sun, or full sun, though it may scorch in intense south-facing windows without gradual acclimation.
