Dionysos forms a dense rosette of thick, triangular leaves that taper to a sharp point. The leaf surface is pale green to gray-green, covered with irregular brownish-red mottling across the upper face. In brighter light, those mottled markings deepen in contrast against the base color. The rosette stays compact, rarely exceeding 3 to 4 inches across.
It produces slender stalks bearing small coral-to-orange flowers, typically in spring or early summer. A night temperature drop encourages blooming, so moving it to a cooler room in late winter can help trigger a flower stalk. This plant is pet friendly, so it can sit in shared spaces without concern.
Rotate Dionysos a quarter turn every few weeks so all sides of the rosette receive even light exposure. It is sensitive to being moved between spots, so pick a location and keep it there as much as possible. Move it outside for summer, but keep it covered or sheltered from rain, as standing water in the rosette can cause rot. You can leave it up to ten days without water, and it wilts slightly when dry.
Echeveria purpusorum 'Dionysos' grows well in bright indirect light to direct sun, avoiding harsh midday south-window exposure that scorches leaves.

It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Florida, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, and Hawaii. It can stay outdoors through autumn in those zones before nighttime temperatures drop too low.
