The plant forms a dense, clumping rosette of thick, dark green leaves edged with spiky tips. Each leaf is tongue-shaped and textured with pale white spotting across the surface, giving the rosette a sculptural quality. The dark green foliage and contrasting white markings are distinctive on any desk, shelf, or windowsill.
It produces slender, arching flower spikes topped with tubular blooms in coral to reddish-orange hues, typically appearing in late winter through spring when the plant experiences a nighttime temperature drop. The blossoms are not fragrant but add color that contrasts against the dark, spotted foliage. Providing that cool night shift encourages flowering each season.
Move it outside in summer to a sheltered spot with bright indirect or partial sun, but provide cover from heavy rain to prevent root rot. You can leave it up to ten days without water. Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
