    •   Nematanthus gregarius, also called Goldfish Plant, is a trailing houseplant from the Gesneriaceae family native to the rainforests of Brazil. It grows as an epiphytic plant, naturally clinging to trees in warm, humid environments. The common name comes from the small, tubular flowers that resemble goldfish in shape and color.

The plant produces small, glossy, heart-shaped leaves that cluster densely along trailing stems. Foliage ranges from deep green to bronze-red depending on light levels, with a soft, waxy texture. It grows as a trailing or clustering form, suitable for hanging baskets or as a cascading accent in terrariums. Stems root readily at nodes, allowing it to spread and fill containers quickly.

Nematanthus gregarius blooms with small, tubular flowers in shades of orange and red, typically appearing in spring and summer months. The flowers emerge from leaf axils and last for several weeks, adding warmth to indoor spaces. It grows well near kitchen moisture and windows where ambient humidity naturally rises from daily activities like cooking and dishwashing.

Rotate it every few weeks for even, balanced growth on all sides. It grows well under office LEDs but scorches in direct south windows, so avoid intense afternoon sun. You can leave it up to ten days without water. It wilts slightly when the soil is dry. Move it outside for summer in warm climates, bringing it back indoors before frost arrives. This plant is pet friendly. It naturally humidifies the air around it and performs well in terrariums or small spaces.

    •   Nematanthus gregarius grows in bright indirect light and low light, adapting well to office LEDs.

Water it every 10-14 days during the growing season, letting the soil dry slightly between waterings.

Nematanthus gregarius does best in light, well-draining potting mix with added perlite or orchid bark for air circulation.

It prefers temperatures between 65°F and 75°F and is sensitive to cold drafts from AC units or heaters.

Nematanthus gregarius is a slow to moderate grower that benefits from light feeding during spring and summer with diluted fertilizer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 10-11 and cannot tolerate frost below 50°F. It grows outdoors year-round in southern Florida, southern California, Hawaii, and parts of southern Texas, but requires indoor growing in all other regions.

    • Q: How often should I water Nematanthus gregarius?
A: Water every 10-14 days during spring and summer. In winter, extend watering to every 2-3 weeks as growth slows and soil dries more slowly.

Q: Can this plant survive in a low-light office space?
A: Nematanthus gregarius grows well under office LEDs and in medium to low indirect light, though it will grow more slowly than in brighter conditions.

Q: Does Nematanthus gregarius need high humidity?
A: It prefers high humidity but tolerates average indoor air. Misting occasionally or grouping it with other plants increases humidity naturally.

Q: What signs indicate this plant needs water?
A: Nematanthus gregarius wilts noticeably when the soil dries out completely.

Q: Is Goldfish Plant safe for cats and dogs?
A: Yes, this plant is non-toxic and completely safe for cats, dogs, and other household pets.

Q: How fast does Goldfish Plant grow?
A: It grows at a slow to moderate pace, developing new stems and leaves over several months with proper light and consistent moisture.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
